Political refugee asylum can be purchased
Everything's for sale
Otis by Kanye West (Ft. Jay Z) 2

“Political asylum” is granted to refugees from unjust or repressive regimes

Jay’s point is that he is so popular and rich, he can buy political asylum wherever he flees to. Presumably this would be necessary if he “murked” someone who was trying to harm Yeezy

These lines tie in nicely with Jay’s later verse about immigrants — including presumably illegal ones — getting money

For Jay, anything and everything has a price tag. He has that kind of money.

Snap back, see my cut through the holes Otis by Kanye West (Ft. Jay Z) 2

A triple entendre:

  1. Jay is wearing a snap back hat which is cocked back at the front and you can see his haircut through the hole in the back (he grows his hair out when recording albums).

  2. At the same time, he seems to refer to a drive-by shooting — snapping back/cocking back the hammer, and telling his victim that through the “hole” in his open window he can see the cut of the diamonds on Jay-Z’s watches as he pulls the trigger.

  3. This line also suggests a running back in football (“snap” and “back” are both football terms) cutting through the “holes” on the field created by the absence of defenders. Jay thinks this is a good analogy for his driving through the city.

Or maybe Jay is just trying to bring Snapbacks Back along with the young'uns

I maneuver slow
Cock back,
Otis by Kanye West (Ft. Jay Z) 2

He’s gonna drive slow through the city while leaning back in his ride. (probably a Maybach) — after all, with two watches he has time on his hands.

The “cock back” reference could also refer to cocking the hammer of a pistol, with the rest of the verse referring to a drive-by-shooting.

Niggas talking real reckless; stuntmen Otis by Kanye West (Ft. Jay Z) 2

Stuntmen’s job is to perform reckless activities with little regard for their own safety.

The play on words revolves around “stunt,” which can mean “to show off.” The basic meaning is a warning that if you show off by talking shit about Kanye, you are putting your life in danger. It also implies that while you claim to live a life of danger, you are more akin to a Hollywood actor.

This line is likely a shot at Lil Wayne and Drake; Wayne is a longtime frenemy of Jay-Z while his protege Drake seems to take a few shots at the throne on I’m On One and Dreams Money Can Buy, saying his favorite rappers “either lost it or ain’t alive — and they trying to bring us down, me, Weezy, and Stunna.” “Stunna” is Birdman; Wayne first came to prominence with his guest verse on the Birdman’s hit #1 Stunna. “Stunna” comes from “to stunt,” and means showing off. And Drake in fact calls himself a “stunt double” on Up All Night.

Kanye makes fun of Wayne and Drake with the form as well as the content of this line by structuring it as a “grocery bag” rhyme, a simile that omits the “like.” It is a style of rapping popularized by Drake and the Young Money crew, although Big Sean claims to have invented it, though rappers like Sean Price and Cam'ron were using similar devices years prior

Truth
New watch alert: Hublots
Or the big face Rollie, I got two of those
Arm out the window through the city,
Otis by Kanye West (Ft. Jay Z) 2

Hublots watches start around $7K and go up to about $200K. One watch even costs 1 Million. The word “hublot” means “porthole” in French; all the company’s watches are designed with this as inspiration. Still, Hublot has drawn criticism for biting designs from Audemars Piguet, another (former?) Jay-Z favorite.

Conflict of interest alert: Jay is reportedly a paid endorser

Rollies or Rolex watches start at around $1000 (for used ones) and can go up to about $60K

Jay is so rich he has two and flaunts them by hanging his arm out the window

(Sounds so soulful, don’t you agree?) Otis by Kanye West (Ft. Jay Z) 2

Otis Redding is a soul legend.

But the important thing to note here is the reference to Eddie Murphy’s character in Coming to America, Mr. Randy Watson!

Kanye has a very similar line on this song from Late Registration, as does Jay-Z on Encore

He tells people to stop being fake. In Detroit, a very rough city, those type of people would get eaten, or wouldn’t survive.

Also, hot sauce is a food condiment.
