The story is weaved throughout the album, through every song. So the letter is from his baby moma that he was previously in a relationship starting at “Spread” ending with “Roses”. Her character is then revisted in “She’s Alive”, dwelling into the difficulties off single parenthood. This is a letter about that she still loves him. However Andre´ is now married. The letter ends with “my favorite stuff” – a fittingly segway to the next track; “My Favorite Things”, which is instrumentations only.
Benjamin has said the album is 80% based off his own experiences so in real life the baby moma is Erykah Badu, whom gave birth to his son Seven Sirius Benjamin ´97.
