Whedon on the possibility of killing an Avenger:

I’m always joking about that. Um…maybe?… But I’d have to have a really good reason, a really great sequence for [Marvel executives] to go, ‘We’ll cut off a potential franchise, that’s fine!’ They know as any good studio does, that without some stakes, some real danger, how involved can we get? We don’t just rule it out across the board, but neither is the mission statement ‘Who can we kill?’ We try to build the story organically and go, ‘How hard can we make it on these people?’ You go to the movies to see people you love suffer-that’s why you go to the movies.”

This was more of a possibility before plans for Phase 3 were rolled out, especially because Captain America was considered the most likely to die and we know the next CA movie will be huge, but there’s still a solid chance a non-Avenger gets killed in this supposedly grittier sequel.

The Imitation Game is Norwegian director Morten Tyldum’s first English-language film. Tyldum has remarked that he became “obsessed” with Turing after discovering how little he had been taught in school about this prolific and important historical figure.

“I needed to know everything — and as a filmmaker, it’s such a blessing, because you find this story that you just need to tell and you feel you’re part of something.”

Despite having a career that spans for 5 decades, this will be Michael Keaton’s first Oscar nomination for his role as Riggan Thomson/Birdman.

The meta elements involving the 63 year old star of Batman and Batman Returns playing an aging actor that used to play a former superhero were not lost on anyone, but Keaton wasn’t just casted for novelty. He brought intensity, humor, desperation, and joy to the character, which was impressive given that the character was intentionally ridiculous.
