I originally gave this to “Lie, Cheat, Steal” because it was a great banger with some important shit to say, but “Jeopardy” is just a better song.

My main issue with RTJ1 was that every beat was great, but they all started to sound alike – a huge banger with some electronic-sounding shit in the background. I could tell right from the beginning that this tape was going to be a different story – the instrumental is plodding, slightly creepy, and jazz-influenced. And the pacing was perfect: the anticipation built up for El-P’s verse was one of my favorite hip-hop moments of the year.

Only 2:34 long with 1 verse from Mac, a strong guest verse by Vince Staples, and a simple but infectious beat courtesy of 9th Wonder, the high replay value of this song helps it take the #1 spot for me.

Vince’s verse speaks on growing up with an environment and family that pushed him towards the gang life, and Mac’s verse starts off silly before getting deathly serious. Off of Mac’s mixtape Faces.

Just noticed all of my picks are collabs. I didn’t set out to make it like that, I just think good collaborations usually bring out the best in every artist involved.

Episode: “New Boss”

This one kind of backfires on Jim. He wears a tuxedo to work to mock Dwight’s new dress code, but when questioned about it by the new boss Charles, he comes off as looking “unprofessional”. This is the first of many occasions where Jim embarrasses himself in front of Charles.

Episode: “Classy Christmas”

This is one of the few times in the series where we can say without a doubt that Dwight won. After Jim walked into the office and threw a snowball at Dwight, Dwight terrorized Jim with snow attacks throughout the day, culminating in the final snowman showdown.
