Say everything's hostile Around My Way by Lupe Fiasco

Trying to demonstrate the bad side to some things that most people don’t think twice about. Most people are easy to criticize things like suicide bombers, but they don’t see the wrong in others that go on around them.

A reference to another hood area in California, Oakland. It is similar to South Central and Detroit in its crime rate. East Oakland, like South Central, produced some talented and influential rappers: Too Short, E-40, Keak da Sneak, MC Hammer, Hieroglyphics and others.

Couple croissants shy of a continental breakfast Around My Way by Lupe Fiasco

Similar to the set list line, a continental breakfast is comprised of an assortment of breakfast foods. Again, this is a classic turn of phrase for “crazy”.

The line also contains a subtle (and perhaps unintended) reference to the “Hurry up with my damn croissants!” line from Kanye West’s 2013 album Yeezus.

You say no you ain't, and I say yes you is Around My Way by Lupe Fiasco

If you can’t admit you could be acting somewhat ignorant, and don’t do anything to help solve it, you are still a contributor to the problem.

Also, the way he says “you ain’t” sounds like “you Wayne” and “you is” sounds like “you Wiz”. Could be seen as shots toward them.

A friend request following the hash tag Around My Way by Lupe Fiasco

Reference to two of the biggest social networking sites out right now, Facebook and Twitter. Now that everything is now virtual, people are more interested in seeing they have new “friendships” than the actual friendship itself.

Another meaning is hidden in this line. Post-Civil War America was mostly horrific to the Native-Americans as alluded to in the previous lines. Also, during this time, when natives were bullied into all sorts of predicaments, their children were enrolled into school to make them more white, so Lupe is sarcastically praising these teachers who teach “blind kids” and as they tried to overshadow native american culture

Actually Lupe Praises teachers of blind kids stating that it is top shelf gangsta shit to guide people living in a world of darkness through a world of darkness. Real Teachers and real blind kids

Cash rules everything around these niggas Around My Way by Lupe Fiasco

A reference to the classic Wu-Tang cut “C.R.E.A.M.” Most people put money over knowledge. A nice continuation of the ice cream metaphor.

And while it might be a stretch, this line can be parsed into the acronym “C.R.E.A.T.N” which looks and sounds suspiciously like “cretin.” Is it a sneak insult directed pedophilic pastors? Is it a statement that those ruled solely by cash are blind fools? Who knows.

And we marvel at the state of Ottoman
Then turn around and treat Ghana like a garbage can
Around My Way by Lupe Fiasco

We look at the decline of the Ottoman Empire, which lasted 700 years and was one of the most influential empires in history, and wonder why it happened. Yet we don’t even realize the consequences of our actions, like dumping our old electronics in Ghana, making it one of the world’s biggest dumping grounds

They don't hate you Girls by Eminem

Fred thinks the reason he has haters is that he has strong beliefs he stands up for, and makes controversial and entertaining music (sound familiar?). But in reality, they just think his music sucks and he complains too much.
