J Gomes LF 3 0 0 0 2013 World Series Game 1 by St. Louis Cardinals vs Boston Red Sox

Gomes isn’t known as a particularly good fielder… But he came up big on the big stage with this great diving catch in the 5th. (But later in the inning he made an error)

C Beltran RF 1 0 0 0 2013 World Series Game 1 by St. Louis Cardinals vs Boston Red Sox

The best play of the game by the Cardinals was also the worst for them. Carlos Beltran, who is tied for 8th all-time with 16 postseason home runs, robbed Big Papi of a grand slam in the second inning, but in the process badly bruised his ribs and had to leave the game to go to the hospital.

Jay Cutler Most Hated NFL Players [2013] by E-Poll Market Research

The current Bears QB doesn’t do anything that you should specifically hate… he just seems like a generally hate-able guy.

The base for most of the hatred is that has an aura about him that screams “I don’t give a shit!” He seems to not care whether or not his team wins or loses, which is equatable to being a serial killer to most die-hard NFL fans.

He came under a lot of fire after being forced to sit out the remainder of the 2010 NFC Championship game after hurting his knee in the third quarter. In such an important game, the general consensus among NFL players is that unless you are dying, you need to be out there playing. A lot of criticism came his way from other players and sportscasters after the situation, but it turned out that it was all for no reason, as coach Lovie Smith made the choice to keep Cutler out for the game.

BUT HOW CAN YOU HATE A GUY WHO IS THE STAR OF SUCH AN EXCELLENT MEME????

Reggie Bush Most Hated NFL Players [2013] by E-Poll Market Research

The third USC Trojan to appear on this list (with Mark Sanchez and Carson Palmer), and another semi-surprising choice. Reggie Bush has done nothing on the field to warrant hatred — he has had a fairly decent NFL career and won a Super Bowl ring — but has had off-the-field issues, mainly regarding his time at USC.

Bush won the 2005 Heisman Trophy, the most prestigious award in college football, but has since lost it. The NCAA investigated him and the school, and found that Bush received numerous gifts from his agent. They stripped him of the Heisman and imposed sanctions on USC, including bowl game bans, loss of scholarships, and vacation of wins.

It’s hard to believe that he cracked this top 10 due to simply receiving gifts in college. This issue is coming up more and more often, including issues with other high-profile players such as ex-Auburn star Cam Newton and current Texas A&M offensive machine Johhny Manziel.

Perhaps this has something to do with his past relationship with reality queen Kim Kardashian?

Tony Romo Most Hated NFL Players [2013] by E-Poll Market Research

Introducing the golden boy of America’s Team, Tony Romo!

(Pictured here after fumbling the hold on a 19-yard field goal in the first round of the 2006 playoffs that would have given the Cowboys the lead with 1:19 to play. They lost the game)

There are no shortage of reasons to hate this guy

  1. He’s the fourth-highest paid player in the league (6 years, $108 million), only below three Super Bowl-winning Quarterbacks. Meanwhile he has exactly 0.

  2. The perception that he cares more about his girlfriends than football. Most famously he and girlfriend Jessica Simpson went to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico during the Cowboys' bye week in the 2007 Playoffs. Dallas lost their next game to the Giants on a last-minute Tony Romo interception in the end zone.

  3. Most importantly, he has only one playoff win in three appearances.

The Quarterback of “America’s Team” with probably the biggest fanbase in the league just hasn’t performed when it has mattered. And he is getting paid absurd amounts of money to do so.

Mark Sanchez Most Hated NFL Players [2013] by E-Poll Market Research

An odd player to show up at #5 on this list. Whereas the previous 4 players have actually done things on and off the field to warrant hatred, Sanchez has only really played terribly.

Sanchez hasn’t had off-the-field issues. He doesn’t have a history of being a bad teammate. He simply hasn’t lived up to the expectations of a Quarterback for a New York football team. His first three seasons with the team were decent, but the team thought he had potential to be great, so they signed him to a 3-year contract extension with $20.5 million guaranteed. He didn’t live up to the contract though, playing horribly in 2012 and providing us with a laughable play for the ages.

By now we are all very familiar with Sanchez’s infamous butt fumble. It reigned as SportsCenter’s Worst of the Worst play for a record 40 WEEKS before it was retired in September, when ESPN realized that nothing was ever going to beat it.

But does any of this warrant Sanchez being the #5 most hated player in the NFL? Apparently it does.

$6.1 million for the CEO of Tiffany & Co. Criticisms of Sotheby's by Daniel S. Loeb

Michael Kowalski has been CEO at Tiffany & Co. since January 2003. Under his leadership, net sales have risen from around $1.7 billion in 2002 to $3.8 billion in 2012, and the stock has risen around 42 points.

With these kinds of numbers, Kowalski’s large compensation can be justified. But Sotheby’s is only a third of the size of Tiffany & Co., so why should the CEOs of each be getting compensated equally?
