An odd player to show up at #5 on this list. Whereas the previous 4 players have actually done things on and off the field to warrant hatred, Sanchez has only really played terribly.

Sanchez hasn’t had off-the-field issues. He doesn’t have a history of being a bad teammate. He simply hasn’t lived up to the expectations of a Quarterback for a New York football team. His first three seasons with the team were decent, but the team thought he had potential to be great, so they signed him to a 3-year contract extension with $20.5 million guaranteed. He didn’t live up to the contract though, playing horribly in 2012 and providing us with a laughable play for the ages.

By now we are all very familiar with Sanchez’s infamous butt fumble. It reigned as SportsCenter’s Worst of the Worst play for a record 40 WEEKS before it was retired in September, when ESPN realized that nothing was ever going to beat it.

But does any of this warrant Sanchez being the #5 most hated player in the NFL? Apparently it does.

Michael Kowalski has been CEO at Tiffany & Co. since January 2003. Under his leadership, net sales have risen from around $1.7 billion in 2002 to $3.8 billion in 2012, and the stock has risen around 42 points.

With these kinds of numbers, Kowalski’s large compensation can be justified. But Sotheby’s is only a third of the size of Tiffany & Co., so why should the CEOs of each be getting compensated equally?

The “Bug” technically fits the description of an “unmanned aerial vehicle,” but was really just a bomb with wings. It used a $40 mass-produced 4-cylinder Ford engine and cardboard wings (no, I’m not making this up) to guide itself to its location.

As for its effectiveness during testing…

The Kettering Bug had 2 successes on 6 attempts at Dayton, 1 of 4 at Amityville, and 4 of 14 at Carlstrom."

It’s very ironic that the document suggests landmines as an example of unmanned weapons that pre-date drones considering that they still kill thousands of people every year, many of them civilians.

It is estimated that there are still around 110 million land mines in the ground today, with armies in countries such as Syria and Libya continuing to use them. From 2010 to 2011 over 4,191 people were killed by land mines.

And these mines are what the NSA wants to point to to justify the use of drones today?

Drones are controlled remotely by highly trained soldiers, far from the image that many people may have of a fleet of unmanned aircraft flying around and killing as they please.

For a very interesting (and long) article about drones and their pilots check this out.

Penn State is a party haven in the middle of nowhere. Seriously… it’s in the dead center of Pennsylvania, with farmland all around it. No wonder they go so hard, there’s nothing else to do.

Whatever kind of partying you like to do, you can find it at Penn State. There are 89 fraternities and sororities, so if that’s your thing, you know something is always going to be poppin' off. The football tailgating is some of the best in the country.

But the most notorious day of partying at PSU is State Patty’s Day. A fake holiday created in 2007 so students could celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at school, even though the holiday was over Spring Break. It continues to this day (though the real holiday rarely falls over spring break anymore). Tens of thousands of people stream into State College to celebrate nothing in particular. The police and local government have tried everything to stop the holiday, including shutting down bars, not selling alcohol in the days prior, and increasing police presence, but nothing has worked. The partying spirit of Penn State cannot be silenced.

In 2003, A-Rod (along with 104 other players) tested positive for two types of anabolic steroids, testosterone, and Primobolan.

In an interview after these results were released in 2009, Rodriguez admitted to taking banned substances from 2001 to 2003, citing “an enormous amount of pressure to perform.”

This is now the second time he has been involved in a banned substances scandal, and the MLB decided that this was enough to ban him for a long time.

Carter was a very surprising cut by the Eagles before the 1990 season, considering he caught 11 touchdown passes and went for 605 yards the year before. But he has admitted that the reason he was cut was due to alcohol and drug abuse.

However, his release was a turning point in his life. It made him realize that he needed to turn his life around. And it looks like it worked because he is now a Hall of Famer.
