I think Nas is the rap equivalent to M. Brando, the greatest pure talent the game has ever seen. He is controversial, easy to hate and despise becuase he does not conform and bucks the very system that made him who he is. While Nas like Brando has not always utilized his talent as “consistently” as everyone demanding fan would like. He has done the most with the least, meaning album releases. Brando owned the 50’s, made his imprint then dissappeared. Then he returned in the 70’s with only 2 films and again redefined and changed the genre of acting again. Nas, I believe will do the same as his career extends. Like Picasso, Nas genius work/magnum opus was released early in his career never to be equaled or repeated, but when he is ready and inspired, he will produce another body of work that will remind everyone not only of his greatness, but why he is cut from a different cloth that can’t be made again.

-If you can speak what you will never hear, if you can write what you will never read, you have done rare things.

Nas thanks so much for new album I love it. I don’t have many favorite artists or rep them but your my favorite rapper of all time and I find it necessary to support you on sites like this. I love Life is Good its a trip back to the 90’s and the sound is so nostalgic. Keep doing what your doing homie.

A caterpillar can’t understand what an eagle sees or comprehends so how can a caterpillar give an eagle good advice? better yet, why would an eagle listen to the advice of a caterpillar? The caterpillar is at best lunch for the eagles, but in reality too small of a prey to even reach the eagles dietary need.

October 26th, 2012

Caterpillar = Fake ass niggas
Eagle = Real, The Great People

November 26th, 2012

Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it turned into a butterfly!

September 8th, 2012

Sho ya right. An eagle soars, so I see the eagle like some omnipotent one. You can’t see from the ground, young caterpillar, what the eagle sees from the sky.

Why should he listen to posers? He’s been through more than you could ever imagine. So why should he listen to people like Lil Wayne? Nas grew up in the hood.

An eagle is on a whole other level than a caterpillar, I don’t think it’s meant to say that the caterpillar type people are not as good as the eagle, just not on the same level. It’s about not caring what certain people have to say just because you don’t actually care about their opinion in the first place because they are not your equals, they don’t share your vision or understanding of the world. An eagle has perceptions spanning the entire sky, while a caterpillars perceptions are just lower to the ground and smaller to the eagle. To the caterpillar his perceptions are just as vast as the sky the eagle sees, but to the eagle it is nothing.

I swear a good analogy to this is an eagle is a world changer. It soars over the skies seeing all choosing what to do with it. while a catepiller strives along doing its own thing to control the food it gets and shelter it can have.

While Truman was in office, he didn’t run the show it was really hoover, the director of the FBI, who made things work. He also compiled a list of 12,000 Americans to detain during “wartime concerns”…sounds familiar to today…thanks Nas!

When he says “The next Go round” he could reference another Guy song called “Round and Round (Merry Go Round of Love)” from the same album as the song sampled for Bye Baby.

This line just goes to show, no matter how much beef Nas and BIG had, they always had a lot of respect for each other. With his explanation, Nas is basically say even though BIG was arguably the greatest since Dre in commercial hip hop he still wanted Nas to approve of him. This isn’t a brag on Nas' part, just a statement of fact, as in even when one of them made it big, the NY artists still looked to each other before they looked to outsiders to see if what they were doing was goood.

https://soundcloud.com/rapgenius/nas-talks-about-stretch Stretch he was a great friend of mine. We were working on the “It was Written” album together. He dropped me off at home after we was done and as soon as I got into bed, I got the call that his car was riddled with an AK-47 and that’s a gun that ain’t even used in New York then. It destroyed me. He was one of the coolest dudes I’ve ever met in my life. I’ve never talked about it until now. It was hard to talk about. I’ll talk about it more in my upcoming book. But I really want to respect his memory and at the same time talk about our relationship.

Stretch if you don’t know, rapped with Tupac and produced so much of Pac’s record, “Pain” I think. Pac thought that Stretch had something to do with him being set up and Stretch was really hurt by that because they was like brothers. Had Pac lived longer, I think they would have reconciled.

yeah I read about that on an article on the making of “It Was Written”. Poke and Tone said they didnt even touch “Take it in Blood” even though he didnt finish mastering it. It’s a shame how many people Tupac couldnt reconcile with.
