The bombings of Hiroshima have been referred to as “10,000” feet high in a few interviews and quotes after world war II. Peep this eerie, harrowing description of Hiroshima from a survivor of the bombings..

A tremendous blast wave struck our ship. A giant ball of fire rose as though from the bowels of the earth, belching forth enormous white smoke rings. Next we saw a giant pillar of purple fire, ten thousand feet high, shooting skyward with enormous speed. Awestruck, we watched it shoot upward like a meteor coming from the earth instead of from outer space. It was a living thing, a new species of being, born right before our incredulous eyes. It was a living totem pole, carved with many grotesque masks grimacing at the earth."

the “cynical laugh” may be a reference to America’s joy over the ending of World War II, and how so many people defended the bombings of Hiroshima as a “swift way to end the war without more U.S. casualties”.

the artist has managed to capture the image of someone, most likely a child, mid-jump in the midst of the detonation of the bombs. The child is “froze in half leap” due to the bombings preventing those little feet from ever reaching the comfort of the ground.

This line, when looked at from a metaphorical sense of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, has two meanings. Either the artist has so vividly portrayed the emotions and events on that day that it appears to be a “freeze frame” of the events, or It’s possibly referring to one of the most famous photos of world war II- the bombing of Hiroshima.

Qwel is describing a piece of graffiti he has seen. The line “Japanese Baby Shadows” has a bit of a metaphorical meaning. At first glance, it would seem this piece of work has a japanese-style towards its design (fonts, images, etc,). But when you compare most of the individual aspects and characteristics of this piece of graffiti Qwel is describing, you start to see some remarkable resemblances to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. “Japanese Baby Shadows” could represent the death of all the Japanese, or it might just be setting up the rest of the song to appear as references to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Two meanings, depending on how you interpret the overall theme of the song. Clearly this piece of graffiti has a red dragon, to continue the Japanese theme present in the art in bar two, “Of Japanese Baby Shadows”.

Alternatively, if you pick up on the underlying themes and imagery throughout the song, you may have noticed an abstract resemblance to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This line, if looked at in this context, represents the dim explosions someone would have seen in the distance resulting from the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, etc.

this is a reference to the show “To Catch a Predator” which was hosted by Chris Hansen. On the show, a teen boy would be imitated on the internet through chat rooms in order to catch potential sexual offenders. Once the offender was lured to a location by a chatroom, Chris Hansen would pop out and ask them why they were at said location, and go through a series of insinuating and judgmental questions before the potential sex offender was arrested.

Showing distaste for former president George W. Bush has become a sort of running joke within the hip-hop community; Sean plays into this here by referencing said distaste by stating how he didn’t vote for Bush either in 2000 or 2004.

This clarifies that he wasn’t being conservative by not voting for Obama – he just doesn’t give a fuck
