Scatman John suffered from a VERY debilitating stutter, and he found a way past that through music.

In an interview with “Speech Pathologists
and Audiologists Magazine”
, John spoke about how freeing it was to celebrate, rather than hide his stuttering.

It kept me in the closet when I was a jazz player. Stuttering had control of me. I was a victim of my stuttering. Today I’m not the victim anymore. It doesn’t sabotage my life anymore. If you are open about your stuttering, it is kind of attractive.

The second to last single released by German Europop band Passion Fruit, 5 months later on November, 24'th 2001 the trio boarded Crossair Flight 3597 bound for Zurich… The plane never made it there, it crashed in the woods in Bassersdorf, Switzerland. 2 members of the trio (Maria Serrano Serrano, and Nathalie van het Ende) were killed, third member Debbie St. Maarten survived along with the bands manager. Melanie Thornton of La Bouche also died.
