A Ventolin pump, or inhaler, is used to relieve asthma.

Joell plays on the term “pump” which also refers to a gun. So while normally a pump relieves asthma, in this case his pump is doing the opposite (acting backwards), as it’ll leave you wheezing.

Conducting Organized Business is repeated in light of this theme, but is also one of the many possible meanings of the COB acronym of Crooked I’s label and family.

Here are a few more possibilities.

The 4th track and title track from Apex Predator

Crooked explains the motto behind this album with the saying – Hunt, Kill, Eat. Hunt for opportunities, kill competition, make sure the whole family eat.

All parts of this saying are touched upon in the lyrics.

The saying “We don’t die, we multiply” has been used by 2Pac in various ways.

In light of the song’s theme, this saying could be referring to the animal kingdom where natural selection rules, if you’re strong you survive and pass on your genes, so if Crooked’s the apex predator in the rap game, he won’t fade away, and every success he has will be used to support his COB ‘family’, for instance, he uses his fame to promote Horseshoe G.A.N.G, made up of his biological brothers.

He pronounces ‘multiply’ as ‘mall 2ply’ which is what you’d call a bag full of recently bought 2ply (2 pieces per layer) tissue

The reference is a little stretched and he definitely had to alter his pronunciation, so he ‘reached’ to get the wordplay into his message

A double meaning of flashy is used: to be flashy means to flaunt your power, but is also used in the sense of a camera flash. Also note that a shootout could refer to camera shots or gun shots (pulling out your gun could be considered flashy, and a shootout of this sort would certainly cause flashes)

Pheromones are secretions that act as social cues within a species, they are something we often relate to animals, hence the animal references

By ‘snow bunny’ Crooked could be referring to:

Or more likely, an attractive white woman:

Many experiments have supported the claim that women can smell the pheromones of men, however this doesn’t hold true when the two are of a different species

Note, Crooked comparing himself to a gorilla might be a reference to the album title, though it’s debatable as to whether a gorilla is really an apex predator considering it is herbivorous

“Off the loud” means Crooked’s performing high and “Off the dome” refers to free styling

So Crooked performs a song, but then switches into a freestyle to throw off the crowd who were trying to rap along

The Slaughterhouse show has a segment where Crook raps a ‘freestyle’ but seeing as he’s performed it many times, some audience members rap along, so he tends to add new rhymes to the end in different shows

Other shows end with Crooked actually rapping off the dome

Crooked’s version of Drakes chorus from The Motto which started the YOLO trend with the line:

You only live once: that’s the motto, nigga, YOLO

While Drake’s chorus encourages the listener to make the most of their life, Crooked uses YODO to warn against gun violence and throwing your life away, as explained in this video:
