The Barber Motorsports Park is a 740 acres (300 ha) multi-purpose racing facility located on the eastern fringes of Birmingham, Alabama, USA near Leeds. The park, which opened in 2003, has a 16-turn, 2.38-mile (3.83 km) road course, designed by Alan Wilson, viewable from several naturally wooded or grass-covered banks. It was built by George Barber, and includes the Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum.

Auto Club Speedway (formerly California Speedway) is a two-mile (3 km), low-banked, D-shaped oval superspeedway in Fontana, California. The racetrack is located near the former locations of Ontario Motor Speedway and Riverside International Raceway.

Construction of the track, on the site of the former Kaiser Steel Mill, began in 1995 and was completed in late 1996. The speedway has a grandstand capacity of 91,200 and 28 skyboxes. The IZOD Indycar Series returned to the track in 2012 with the season finale race (a 500 mile night race); it ran a 400 mile race from 2002–05 at the track.

Indy Racing League, LLC is an American-based auto racing sanctioning body, adopting the trade name of IndyCar. IndyCar sanctions four racing series, the premier IZOD IndyCar Series with its centerpiece Indianapolis 500, and developmental series Firestone Indy Lights, the Star Mazda Championship and the U.S. F2000 National Championship, which are all a part of The Road To Indy.

Indy Racing League, LLC is owned by Hulman and Co., which also owns the Indianapolis Motor Speedway complex and the Clabber Girl brand.

The 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series season represents the 102nd season of American open wheel racing and the 18th season of the IndyCar Series. Its premier event was the 97th Indianapolis 500 held on Sunday, May 26. The 2013 season will be the second to feature the Dallara DW12 chassis. Ryan Hunter-Reay entered the season as the defending drivers' champion. Chevrolet is the defending Manufacturers' Cup champion.

Belle Isle is a 982-acre island park in the Detroit River, between the United States mainland and Canada, managed by the Detroit Recreation Department. It is connected to the rest of Detroit, Michigan by the MacArthur Bridge. It is the largest city-owned island city park in the United States.

In 1992, a temporary street race circuit was constructed on the isle for CART races. The island hosted ten events at Belle Isle from 1992–2001, and racing resumed in 2007 as part of the IndyCar Series and American Le Mans Series.
