Robin Arryn: Mommy... I want to see the bad man fly.
Lysa Arryn: Perhaps you will, my little love.
The Wolf and The Lion by Game of Thrones

The Eyrie is the ancestral castle of House Arryn, located in the Vale of Arryn, in the western part of Westeros.

What makes the Eyrie so special is that’s hard to attack because of the mountains surrounding the castle as well as the roads leading up to the castle. The castle itself reaches a height of 600 feet above the ground.

Since it is located so high up, one of the most logical forms of execution at the Eyrie is to throw a person out of the Moon Door, a door located in the High Hall (the highest part of the castle). Even though the bodies aren’t retrieved, at that elevation the executions are all but guaranteed.

Little Robert Arryn, the son of Jon and Lysa Arryn (Catelyn Stark’s sister), is a huge fan of Moon Door executions and would love to see Tyrion Lannister “fly”.

Barristan Selmy: He was a fine man, your father. What the Mad King did to him was a terrible crime. The Wolf and The Lion by Game of Thrones

Barristan Selmy is a loyal member of the Kingsguard, the elite soldiers sworn to protect the king. When Aerys II aka The Mad King was in power, it was his duty to protect him and his family and never question the king’s decisions. Nonetheless, Selmy had eyes and he personally witnessed the deaths of Rickard and Brandon Stark, Ned Stark’s father and brother, respectively.

After Aerys' son, Rhaegar Targaryen, abducted Lyanna Stark (Ned’s sister), Brandon went to King’s Landing, demanding to challenge Rhaegar. Aerys came out instead and imprisoned Brandon and his group. He then demanded that the fathers of all the nobles in Brandon’s group, come to King’s Landing to answer for their sons. The fathers went and were all executed. Rickard demanded a Trial By Combat, in which the accuser and accused each choose someone to represent them in a fight to the death. Aerys granted the request but only under his terms.

Aerys' champion was fire itself and he had Rickard strung up in a suit of armor, burning alive.

While Rickard was burning, Aerys forced Brandon to watch. He had a noose tied around Brandon’s neck and a sword just out of his reach. He invited Brandon to reach for the sword and save his father but as Brandon kept reaching for the sword, the noose got tighter and tighter, until Brandon strangled himself to death.

[Intro: Tyrion Lannister]
Is this how justice is done in the Vale?
You accused me of crimes, I denied them
So you throw me in a cell to freeze and starve
Where is the king's justice?
I am accused and demand a trial
Win or Die by Bodega Bamz

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4B-PysR_4s

This sample is taken from HBO’s epic fantasy TV show, Game of Thrones, Season 1. The person speaking is Tyrion Lannister (played by Peter Dinklage) of House Lannister. He is suspected of hiring an assassin to murder Bran Stark, one of Ned and Catelyn Stark’s children. The assassination failed when Catelyn and Bran’s direwolf, Summer, intervened. Catelyn fought the assassin off until Summer killed him.

The reason Tyrion is accused is because his dagger was found on the assassin’s person. When Catelyn receives a chilling note from her sister, Lysa Arryn of the Vale, implicating House Lannister of treason, Catelyn connects the dots and believes that the Lannisters are out to harm King Robert Baratheon as well as the Starks. She bumps into Tyrion by accident at an inn and places him under arrest with the help of some of her father’s (Hoster Tully of Riverrun) bannermen. Her plan is take Tyrion to the Vale to answer for his alleged crimes. Tyrion rejects the accusations and demands a Trial to declare his innocence.

Tomorrow ain't promised, leave it all to my son Win or Die by Bodega Bamz

Bodega Bamz doesn’t know when his time will be up but rest assured that his son will be taken care of. This concept of inheritance is also very important in Game of Thrones. Under the laws of Westeros (the main continent in the story), a man’s heir is his firstborn son. When that man passes away, all his lands and possessions pass to his firstborn son, unless his firstborn dies or joins the Kingsguard or Night’s Watch (these organizations don’t allow their members to possess lands).

While still staring at CATELYN, ROBB dies and collapses to the floor next to TALISA. CATELYN wails loudly while WALDER takes a sip from his cup. The Rains of Castamere by Game of Thrones (Ft. David Benioff, David Nutter & D.B. Weiss)

The worst fear of any mother is to see her child die before her eyes. Catelyn Stark watches her first born son (and in her mind, the only son she has left), Robb Stark, die just a few feet away. After losing her husband, Ned Stark, and supposedly her other sons, the pain is too much to bear and she cries out louder than the band’s previous performance. Walder Frey could care less, this is exactly what he wanted to see: the simultaneous downfall of House Tully and House Stark.
