I believe I have a special capability to make good music, so why should it cost to get my art out to the world? I realize that’s how it works, however, so I aim big and dream bigger.

On your road to success, you’ll see different signs that let you know you’re making leeway to your dreams, but when the critics and the skeptics get involved, it hurts your spirit that much more.

In this opening line, I question how difficult it is to keep chasing a dream and I’m asking myself what does it all mean?

Whatever it is that you do, remember you only live once. Make the most of it, and kill it!

I’m reminding myself that people don’t always understand where I’m coming from when I make music and express myself but, regardless I’m going to continue to take a shot. To end the song, I gave people a simple recipe for who Malik Ferraud is. Heart + Pride = Malik Ferraud.

I refuse to compromise to what other people want. I do what I want. The energy I provide through my music is something I feel like should be visibly catching more people’s eyes meaning their attention.

Referring back to the line before this “despite my health mental cells” is also a play on words “Mental Sells” meaning by using my mind to sell you an idea I plan to make money from that, ‘giving out words for a couple of dimes’. Like the rest of us, I’m out here to get my well-deserved money. My raps are worth every penny and to give back to the culture is exactly what I plan on doing. I also used a clever metaphor when saying that the least I could do is give this “back”, even if I lose my “spine”. Without a spine, there’s no back, and I plan to be an artist that is trying to elevate and give back to the culture.

These lines reflect the thoughts of someone that is battling depression. Depression is a big mental illness that a lot of people fail to talk about. I’ve been depressed just as much as the next person and fact is most people who are depressed or have dealt with depression have had suicidal thoughts. But, with that being said I make it clear it feels good to be alive despite my health. The term mental cells is referring to being trapped or locked within your mind and feeling like your in a prison (cell), mentally.

Sometimes I feel like some people are blessed with “luck”, others are not. I seem to be on the side that is unlucky at times and it feels like I’m living in hell. So at times I feel like after death the only option for me is heaven if I’m already living in hell, the world we live in. Just something to think about.

I never had too many materialistic things growing up, and with my pursuit to make my music reach more people and hopefully someday be a household name I’m going to do what I can even if I fail. Sometimes life gets rough and I, Or you the listener may feel like your caught in a jam but, personally I plan to advance and make progress when those tough times come, with help or no help at all.
