Malik was always a great artist, but like any other rapper starting out, he was shy in the beginning. That quickly changed and now anything he’s on he kills. Progression is one of Malik’s biggest motivators.

Malik is reminiscing on the times when people didn’t really care about him or his movement as much as he was striving for. He wanted to be the one people were talking about, and now that he is gaining success, people all the sudden are interested in what he’s doing. This is common for most up and coming rappers.

Malik flipped Jay-Z’s and Eminem’s line “I used to give a fuck, now I give a fuck less, what do I think of success, it sucks too much stress” and gave his own spin on it. He understands life is difficult, and even becoming successful has it’s difficulties. But, Malik knows what he wants and he’s going to do whatever he has to do to achieve his dreams.

Again, it’s tough to get people to accept his message and invest in his brand. And despite it appearing that Malik is doing so well, he personally feels that he’s nowhere close to where he wants to be, and his destination is much further than most people can see.

People will take every chance they get to “hate” on somebody doing something productive, and Malik’s situation is no different. He states that his rhyming is so “dirty”, a slang word for incredible, and to continue on with the metaphor, he says he’ll need an extra lining since he’s so “dirty”.

At the same time, everything is starting to come together for Malik and his dreams will come to fruition sooner than later. Right now however, the struggle is to literally sell his music, but more importantly spread his message.

Malik can’t and won’t settle for the typical “9-5 life”, so instead he makes music for the world to hear.

For the last 3 years, Malik’s been working tirelessly to create a metaphorical “heatwave” of music, which he obviously didn’t need the actual sun for. Another clever play on words.

Malik has been recording music and trying to make his dream a reality for several years. The last line is a play on words: he’s saying that he’s in fact “Gods gift”, and even atheists(people who don’t believe in God) believe that he just might be Gods gift.
