Like the first verse, I’m bringing the 2nd verse full circle by finishing the conversation. I want her to know how I feel and I believe it was meant to happen before it’s too late.

The point of love is to enjoy each other’s company, and treasure the moments you get to spend with one another. When money becomes the main focus? Things change for the worse. This is me telling her that these are just my thoughts however, you may not feel the same.

For my rap nerds, the line “Love is shortened when money becomes your highness” uses money as a metaphor for someones high/addiction. The following line reiterates that by saying “Addicted to cash”. To sum it up although I’m speaking my mind I play a spin on the words “I don’t need you to buy it” which goes back to me again letting her know money has very little meaning to me when it comes to a relationship and speaking my mind is free for you to listen regardless if you “buy” into it or not.

This is me telling the girl directly I have no problem with spending money I just don’t believe that materialistic things are the most important in a relationship.

Passion, heart, and confidence are the things I was referring to in the previous line. If a girl and I shared those 3? We would never go “poor” referencing back to the previous line of how I’m not the richest man but, I assure you just from sharing the same passion, heart, and confidence we wouldn’t be poor. Poor can also be determined as “broke” in this sense meaning our relationship would never break apart.

(Broke is a synonym to poor)

The second verse is similar to the first. Carries the same theme and focuses on the woman every man knows, the one who would leave you speechless if they approached you, what would you say? I would open up to this girl and tell her all sorts of things that I have on my mind. Unfortunately, she probably won’t believe me because of all of her past boyfriends. Although I can’t buy her the world, I have a lot more to offer that I know she’ll appreciate.

The hook is still questioning what would happen if the right girl were to come my way, and what I would say to her.

I won’t allow what I’ve been through to effect what I’m doing now. Within this whole verse, I was talking to a girl. So, I cleverly ended it by bringing the conversation full circle, by mentioning to her why I decided to say something and also, asking her, her name.

I used to be just like that, but not anymore. I’ve been through enough to realize what’s important in a relationship. So from a first person point of view I’m letting her know this.

I question the purpose of buying things to impress someone. Usually by doing so, if it doesn’t work out with that person you tend to get upset as to why you did it in the first place.

Simply put – looks are deceiving and one reason why some relationships based on appearance don’t always work out. But, there’s no one to truly blame in that case because we all as people tend to do this (spend money on meaningless things to better our appearance, shoes, jewelry, clothing, etc). In comparison I reference women buying make up to men buying fancy chains.
