STS (Sugar Tongue Slim) is a poet turned MC from Philadelphia. The name Sugar Tongue Slim is a character from one of his old poems.

“STS is Gold” has become his catch phrase of sorts. Just check out his website, http://www.STSisgold.com

This track is of his EP The Illustrious: STS and shows off his quick flow and very impressive profound lyricism. His roots as a poet really can be seen.

STS has worked with The Roots on their Grammy-nominated How I Got Over album and has appeared on tracks with Joell Ortiz and Yelawolf.

GOLD, or Gentlemen of Leisure and Development, is STS’s group of “common folks” who are trying to think with “higher standards”. AKA they are rappers trying to stay classy on a budget.

This is an extremely profound line from Geo.

He’d rather be seen as imperfect in these ways then be immoral like the Upper Class is. The soulless perfects are the same rich people who will evict your building These people are rich enough that they own buildings but still evict the residents who cant afford rent.

On the other hand, you can BE flawed with God. It’s ok! He forgives!

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins
-Matthew 6:14-15

Game sarcastically remarks about the two cops as if they are acting a certain way, not so convincingly.

Game mocks the cops by saying that they should get an award for the classic cop interrogation routine they’re trying to use on him.

Game has lots of money and he harbors lots of drugs. This is a fact he is sure to include in every one of his stories. As if we did not know this by now. Unless we are listening to the clean version, if such a thing exists.

Track number 9 from The Game’s fourth studio album features the Compton rapper inside an interrogation room explaining his alibies to law representatives regarding a homicidal crime. The song’s title takes from the 1966 Western flick of the same name.

Game makes use of a laid back delivery, descriptive storytelling, and a rapping style that heavily resembles Biggie’s—this isn’t the first time Game has done so either.

Each verse depicts a more dissimilar situation. Verse one’s situation is the least violent and is likely told to the GOOD-cop. The situation in verse two includes a rougher scene being described in a less mannerly tone, perhaps in an attempt to get past the BAD-cop’s intelligence. Verse three showcases Game’s confidence cracking, who ultimately acknowledges the UGLY truth of what went down.

Game explained how the song’s idea came about in an interview with Billboard:

The concept came from watching First 48. Then I pit it up against a story that I went through myself in Compton selling drugs, in a dope spot at 17 years old. […] It’s my own re-enactment [vocally] of situations that almost killed me.

This is the most well known line from one of Eminem’s early singles “The Real Slim Shady”.

Eminem signed Yelawolf to his label, Shady Records, set to come out with an album entitled Radioactive. This being the first single to drop off his new album, Yelawolf is comparing himself to the early Eminem. Fair comparison, Yela is a rising white rapper with a totally unique style and many people say that he is a bad rapper. Here, he wants Em to back him up.
