Peter “Pistol Pete” Maravich was drafted into the NBA in 1970 by the Atlanta Hawks. He is a 5 time all star, 77' scoring champion and first ballot hall of famer who also played for the Hawks, Jazz, and the Celtics for a brief time.
Maravich died at age 40 due to heart failure in a pickup game. After his death, doctors found that Pistol Pete had been born without a left coronary artery. It’s crazy how much he accomplished with this major disadvantage in the game of basketball. Fans will always remember Pete as one of the best to do it.
