The Disney D23 Fan Expo is run by the official Disney fan club, which is held annually and is designed to give exciting and unreleased news + insights to loyal Disney (and in this case, Star Wars fans) fans on upcoming projects.

Following the announcement earlier this year of Disney purchasing Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, fans held high expectations for the 2013 Disney D23 convention to release previously-confidential information about what Disney plans to do with the Star Wars franchise, and in particular, the new Star Wars: Episode 7.

However, Fans where highly disappointed to find that J.J Abrams, the director for Star Wars Episode 7, would not be making an appearance at the convention.

It is often disputed in the branch of Christian Apologetics, whether or not Jonah could have possibly survived in a fish’s belly for the period of 3 days.

The common defense being that, similar to Christ’s resurrection, it was nothing short of a miracle!

While we cannot be certain about the type of fish that swallowed Jonah, we can confirm that it would’ve been fairly stinky in the belly.

Christ is often referred to as the ‘Rock of ages’, which is a name that has been publicized by the gospel of Matthew’s ‘The Wise and Foolish Builders’ Parable – which uses a rock and sand analogy to excercise the point of building your life upon a firm foundation (Jesus Christ).

Reference to the Parable of the Mustard seed in the book of Matthew, where Jesus tells the story of a sower using an analogy where the seeds represent life. The sower soon finds out that it is important to plant his seeds in the right place.

The underlying message being that humans should invest their ‘seeds’ or life situations in Jesus Christ, who is a firm and solid foundation.

And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

The 7 days of Creation

The ‘one thousand’ years comparison have lead some to question whether or not the 7 days of Creation recorded in Genesis is allegory. It is often debated whether or not the book of Genesis is meant to be interpreted literally. People who take the book literally are called Creationists, while others interpret it allegorically – seeing the use of the number seven as some symbolic metaphorical significance.

Some ‘new-age’ Christians hold the belief that if Genesis is meant to be interpreted allegorically, it has no contradiction with Theistic Evolution – the belief that macro-evolution happened as a result of a supernatural guided process from a supreme deity; in this case, the Christian God.

Famous Christian Apologist, William Lane Craig, although not an advocate for the theory himself, holds the belief that evolution is compatible with Christianity.

Regardless of the numbers, however, the point remains that non-univocal use of words has misled many people into thinking that evolutionary theory presents some sort of challenge to teleology and, hence, to theism. I tell you, Andrew, this is just one more of those cases that illustrate so powerfully the importance of careful philosophical thinking about science.

However others, particularly Young Earth Creationists maintain the view that evolution is not compatible with Christianity – one of their leading defenses being why would an omnipresent all-powerful God use this lengthy process when he can create man instantaneously?
