These two lines are a paraphrase of the old spiritual “I’ve Been Buked”, which was famously sung by Mahalia Jackson at the 1963 March on Washington

One of the Godfather’s most important and historic tunes, this 1968 number has been sampled and referenced countless times in hip-hop. As an ironic side note, most of the children recorded for this song were white and Asian – only a few were black

This song is a huge meme – even Gucci Mane La Flare alludes to it.

Williams is playing off common rap battle language but putting a positive spin on it. The “vocal aggressors” would be those trying to battle with him, but he is saying to shut up and listen, which makes sense given the next line: “Motherfuckers better realize, now is the time to self-actualize.”

As usual, Saul’s talking about ALL “vocal aggressors”… bullies, people who say “Whatchu lookin at?,” gossips, news (ex. Bill O'Reilly), spotlight seekers, AND JUST ANY OF US WHO WANNA GET OUR POINT ACROSS MORE THAN WE WANNA LISTEN TO WHERE OTHERS ARE COMING FROM. We should increase the times we are listeners, not talkers/shouters, by no less than 70%.

The “trap” is the drug dealing spot or any place where you get money. The originally Southern term has become so common as to have spawned its own genre.

Nicki is using “beez” as a modified vernacular form of the verb “to be” to say what would translate to, “I am frequently in the trap” in Standard American English. She is not talking about trapping actual bees, though the pun is obviously charming.

Nicki explained on the Graham Norton Show,

It just means, ‘I am always…’ you know, that’s our slang way of saying, ‘I beez doing such-and-such-and-such.’ So it’s really like, ‘I am always in the trap.’ Now, the trap, ladies and gentlemen, relates to anywhere where you get your money.

Beez in the trap is also an old saying that means getting or to have everything (money or otherwise) and then some: bees in the trap!

Lil B has long had a respect for the #1 Stunna. On his “New Orleans Based Freestyle”, he shouts out Birdman’s obscure 1993 album I Need a Bag of Dope. In addition, blogger extraordinaire Andrew Noz wrote:

As a sponge, B knows a lot about rap music..B has schooled me personally on so much rap over the past few years. He was the first person I remember talking about Waka as a solo artist and not just a Gucci bag holder, well before “O Let’s Do It.” He introduced me to DB Tha General, who has become one of my favorite rappers. He even forced me to reconsider the talents of Birdman (and justly so)

Sadly, Rain in England (“Love is Strange” is a song on that album) did not exactly meet with critical acclaim. Dusted Magazine’s view is representative:

To all indications, Rain in England is irredeemably bad. This is what it sounds like when everyone fails to point out that an idea isn’t worth indulging

A straightforward love song from the otherwise eccentric Noreaga – except for that part at the end where he compares his girl to oil. It was released as a promotional track to his mixtape Crack On Steroids in 2012.

Writer Nitsuh Abebe talked about Lil B’s sense of wonder in this speech and the audience’s attitude towards it

The way he speaks — open, guileless, grandiose, and a little muddled — is smile-inducing; there’s a level of giggling amazement that can’t be helped. The guy’s philosophy is a lot like a stoned college kid having suddenly giggly epiphanies about the sheer size and complexity of the world. At one point, he took a moment to marvel at the way our brains can tell our hands to move, a thought common to entry-level users of psilocybin mushrooms. He marveled at the building we were in, and the fact that someone, at some point, built it. He marveled at the way we are, you know, just one small particular slice of humanity in a long string of humans to have walked the planet..

Yes, these are things that kids in countless smoke-filled dorm rooms can think through with real gravity while still laughing uncontrollably. And there’s something similarly wonderful about the idea of Lil B having ascended, Buddha-style, into an unlikely world where he can release beautifully sloppy stream-of-consciousness mixtapes about blow jobs and inner peace, for free, monthly, and delight college kids by being one of those rare personalities who makes “trying to be a nice person” seem strange, brave, and provocative..But one really couldn’t help noting with dismay that some small portion of Lil B’s fan base is inevitably going to be made up of the kind of young man who likes to engage with oddball black musicians in a fashion resembling middle-school boys making their overweight or developmentally disabled peers dance. Who will yell “talk about weed” while Lil B is talking about turning the other cheek. Who, when Lil B asks what people are at NYU for, will find it interesting to yell “second-degree murder” in response. And they will do this, with the same goonish love of absurdity as the average Internet troll’s, while listening to a rapper who spends an incredible amount of time pointing out to them how toxic it is
