Religion tells us that Accepting Jesus is only one step to salvation, we must also go to church, follow the rules, avoid sin, ask for forgiveness daily.
Jesus tells us something different. He tells us IT IS FINISHED. its done. Your simple belief in HIM is all it takes. Your unworthyness is replaced by his Grace, so that when God looks at you he sees the pure goodness of Jesus Christ and nothing else.
Religion tells you that you have to work for it, Jesus says “I already did.”
But Paul says we must work out our salvation. I am saved by Christ’s work alone on the cross, and no amount of working on my part will change that. But we have been called to become a servant of Christ, a part of the Body of Christ, and use the gifts he gives us to accomplish the mission of God in the lost world. Jesus even said, “As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
Ephesians 2:8…“I am saved by grace, not works.” But Ephesians 2:10…“I am God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus TO DO GOOD WORKS.”
Yes,I agree …..

This is so totally true. But we also have to remember that giving god praise isn’t for blessings, it’s for the Blessor (Jesus) to reign upon us.
First off, I love this video, but your description here is slightly off. You said believing in him will get you to heaven. That is one part, but if you read Romans 10:13 – “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” and Romans 6:23 says “..the GIFT of God is eternal life…” There are no requirements to receive a gift, but you must accept it. I could buy you a plane ticket, but that does not mean you could get on the plane without accepting and receiving the gift(ticket). There is two parts of salvation. 1: Believing in Christ and that he paid your debt, (died on the cross/rose from the grave) and 2: Accepting the gift and trusting that, not your works, not going to church, simply trusting Jesus to take you because you accepted what he paid for and you did nothing for.
Spreezy- yes he was advocating organized religion.all this is just a heart issue. Going to church, feeding the poor, and doing various good things do not make you “religious”. However, if one thinks Jesus is pleased merely by the good things they do even though He does not know him/her personally then they are mistaken and jesus is not pleased. That is Bethke’s point

When Jesus said of Simon Peter “On this rock I will build my church”, he certainly seemed to be advocating organized religion.
