Once Columbus’s fleet arrived in the Americas, the Native Americans attempted to share their “mystic knowledge” with them, as they felt it would lead them to peace & harmony. However, the newcomers instead tried to convert them to Christianity, and when they refused, the Natives’s leader’s head was cut off & put on a spike on the beach, to warn the rest that they should convert to Christianity.

Although this couldn’t be a direct reference to him as the time periods don’t line up, Metacomet was an Indian chief whose head was mounted on a spike at Fort Plymouth for two decades
