The RM011 arguably marks the point when Mille finally entered the hearts of watch lovers everywhere. Clearly, Mille isn’t concerned with telling the time so much as innovative watchmaking and design. Because of this, he didn’t exactly receive a warm welcome from many.

The greatness in Mille’s pieces is surely in the details. He has redefined watchmaking in terms of pushing the limits of durability and utility and has introduced exotic materials and unique manufacturing techniques to watchmaking.

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed in Jay after the release of Watch the Throne. No, not because of the music..because of his newest horological interest:

Going from AP to Hublot? Come on Jay!..Whenever you hear a sharp business man like Jay Z endorsing something, you can bet he has his hand in the pot though, and that’s no different here. Jay recently designed a limited edition Hublot watch, which is pretty cool (the act, not the watch..). Oh, and Beyonce bought him a $5 million Hublot, which may be the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen.

This unique piece (1 of 1) features a clean colored dial (finally!) and the two most coveted complications in watchmaking – the minute repeater and tourbillon. The HUB8100 movement it uses, is supposedly the most complicated movement Hublot has built so far.

One cool feature of this watch is the minute repeater “gong” which sounds off the time in order of hours, quarter hours, and minutes, by sliding the kevlar “ear” on the left side of the watch.
