A violin buzzes in the background and crescendos as an entire section joins in. The musical profile of the record is set forth on the opening 38 second intro: Strings

This is the first of many intricate and varied string arrangements on Morning Phase. When the track fades into “Morning”, the path is set and we’re in for a treat.

What makes WhatsApp so attractive around the globe is that developing countries and even ones on the rise (ahem…Brazil) don’t have unlimited texting plans as part of their commonplace cellphone plans. Instead, users use tiny amounts of data to send each message and can be high volume WhatsApp texters and survive on 200-500MB/mo plans (first world problems). Check out this really complicated data calculator to find out how much each message uses.

On a recent trip to Brazil, it was a culture shock to be swapping WhatsApp’s with people you meet instead of phone numbers. But alas, now we know why:

In a candid blog post for The Guardian, St. Vincent’s Annie Clark, voiced her disillusionment with and enlightenment by social media, namely her Twitter account:

Every tweet is a signifier and self-promotion is smelly perfume

The “Yeah” could be read as a parody of the vocal fry that can be heard in the speech of many millennial women. An example and explanation can be seen here.

The “yeah” also bears some resemblance to 2Chainz' signature “ya”- it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that St. Vincent probably knows her hip-hop.

Producer Scott Hendricks was adamant that Shelton should record this Michael Dulaney, Will Gray and Ian Kirkpatrick (a friend of the RG family) penned tune, but initially the Country star didn’t get it. Blake recalled to Roughstock: “He sent to me with different singers, guitar/vocals, full demos, a guy singing it, a girl singing it, just because he knew that it was a special song that I just couldn’t get into it for the longest time. And then one day I was back home in Oklahoma and I put in a disc of songs that he sent me and there the damn thing was again. It was like, ‘What has he done!?’ Next thing you know I was singing along! I was like, ‘Man, he’s right! This is a great song!’ And I called him and I said, ‘Let’s cut, 'Do You Remember’ and he sent back, ‘This is the greatest day ever! Yeah!’ And just shows you, I mean Scott, he knows what he’s doing, he knows the great song and it also shows that he’s learned how to work me.”

Seeing Joaquin Phoenix’s character playing this song on the ukelele in the movie Her just brought so much context to the simplicity, beauty and emotion of this song.

The movie pans out to the snowy afternoon outside of his cabin and the stage is set for the perfect moment in hearing this song. It plays again as the movie comes to a close.

Karen finds comfort in both the unknown and the known. Namely, that her lover is hers no matter how close or far they are from each other at any given time.

Think of the imagery of looking up at the night sky (dark) and the stars (shiny) and having these desolate, yet comforting thoughts.

Ok…this one caught me by surprise too, but damn….dude really has dated everyone!

On the real, though, this was just a rumor that started from Captain America being seen at a Knicks game with Tyra Banks in 2001. They both denied it and Jeter said he was at the game with his Dad. Here’s the infamous photo:

I know what you’re thinkin'…Jeter DOES have a nice fade, huh? I mean…is it too far-fetched to think that Tyra had court-side seats next to Jeter and Pops?? Leave it to the press to blow these things out of the water. In the words of the great Chuck D on Public Enemy’s “Don’t Believe the Hype”:

FALSE MEDIA!
