Brutus is the legendary founder of Britain, supposedly descended from the Trojan hero Æneas.

Like the Romans, the mediæval English wanted the Heroic, Homeric Trojan legacy as their own; most famously, Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Historia Regium Britanniæ chronicled the link. The city referred to is Nova Troia (“New Troy”), which became successively Trinovantum, Londinium, and London.

It may not be the stereotypical terrorist’s choice, but Mac’s grating yell hammers home the fact that it could still be deadly.

Well, as scurvy results from a lack of Vitamin C, probably not. Although if she adopted, say, Charlie’s eating habits, it might be a concern (after all, his teeth have been known spontaneously to fall out).

Intriguingly, Charlie has a real, physical “Bad Room” (see The Gang Gets Held Hostage), accessible only through Paddy’s duct system. Perhaps his “Happy Place” is not merely metaphorical…

Based on earlier events in this episode, the abuse was mutual – a state of affairs many would consider impossible.

Frenkel’s pointing out that America’s sovereignty is, at best, founded on the right of conquest. Accepting this, how much more is he justified in demanding that an actual legal right be enforced?

There’s also a reference here to the founding of Israel. In 1947-48, the UN basically carved out that chunk of Palestine which was the ancient homeland of the Jews, and established a new state (a course of action which has resulted in numerous violent conflicts). Mr Frenkel, to some extent, embodies these tactics.

The gang legitimately own the land on which the bar itself stands, but the customer area, bathrooms etc. are Frenkel’s. This should serve as a warning to everyone acquiring real estate: before you buy, check the boundaries!
