Em pokes fun at himself in the early years of his career where his voice would be super nasal, and people would describe his vocal infliction as “nasal whine”. It’s also a way of making fun of his constant anger – he screams with so much rage that inanimate objects, like mannequin dolls want to run away.

From the moment the beat drops out, I’m pretty sure the entire line is just supporting the original wordplay. “Battle ‘em all” is a homophone for “Battle a mall”, so the rest explains the details of the homophone as if it’s true (i.e., how to actually battle a mall). He does a great job finding rhymes that also make perfect sense in context (mannequin dolls, etc.).

Eminem shoots a lot of his videos in big Halls or warehouse like places similar to where he would usually battle other emcees….he literally would win battles in a mall….he beat the whole mall…also he says in “love you more” on Encore, that he’s a mut, he will mall you like the beast dawg that he is.

“the mannequin doll scatter” is incorrect. It’s with the plural of doll: “the mannequin dolls scatter”. It sounds the same when spoken, but only the last one is correct. And how would a single object scatter? Furthermore, if it were, in the highly unlikely circumstance “doll”, he would have needed to say “scatters” to make it a grammatically correct sentence.

And stores usually have multiple mannequin dolls anyway, so the correct phrase is:

“the mannequin dolls scatter”

I think he is refering to a viral video that took place in Canada a couple years ago where a man is basically yelling at a mall wall, asking why it’s closed. The video is called: “Insane man screaming at the mall”. So this man is battling a mall and screaming at the wall, no one wil answer his questions because they can’t hear him. He’s talking to the mannequins because there is no one else there. It also took place during a G6 manifestation in downtown Toronto, so that represents a battle as well.

OK, so this is what my younger brother suggested and what I came to rapgenius for to check if someone had this idea as well. Might there be a “Lamar” somewhere in the “I’ll battle ‘em all, I’ll battle a wall”? As in “I’m better, Lamar” with nostrils closed and subsequent low attention to R’s and L’s?

Even though he may run into some Stans, in the spirit of the song – Em is showing the mad love he has for Detroit. He’s renowned for not leaving the city very often, and has covered this on several songs, including the MMLP2 track “So Far…,” where he even shouts the name of the city with the same intensity as he does here.

However he found haven when the Beastie Boys dropped their debut album Licensed to Ill. An album which mainly was backed by 808 beats.

Appetite For Destruction is also the name of a famous Guns N Roses album, which continues the theme of Yelawolf listing his influences in this verse.

A reference to the movie The Matrix in which “the matrix” is a system put in place to simulate the “real” world whilst reality is actually much different then appears.

To “lose your marbles” means to have lost your mind, and is a synonym for going insane.

Bliss has lost his mind but doesn’t care because he finds it fun.

Also ties in with other lines in this verse which are really just streams of consciousness and random references which don’t make too much sense.

“Keep it 100” is a saying that means to keep yourself real and true, to be honest and stick to the way you are, no matter what any one else thinks. Possibly originated from keeping it “100%”.
