Kanye brags about the success of his Yeezy brand, which he claimed would be worth a billion dollars in an April 2018 Twitter post. Shortly afterward, GQ Magazine fact-checked several comments he made and found many of them to be false or exaggerated.

In a 2018 interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Kim Kardashian claimed that Kanye was “almost a billionaire” and that he was “close, by proximity.”

These lines also contain a reference to Million Dollar Baby, a film about an aspiring female boxer who pursues her dream despite being called crazy. Kanye has also been called crazy for his venture into fashion. These accusations were prevalent throughout the Yeezus tour run, during which he ranted about owning the first “trillion-dollar company” in an interview with Zane Lowe.

Additionally, Phil Knight is the co-founder and chairman emeritus of Nike, which was Kanye’s first partner in the fashion world. Together with Nike’s Mark Smith, he created the Nike Yeezy Air sneaker. However, the collaboration ended in 2013 and Kanye began to work on his shoes with Adidas. According to Kanye, this was because Nike refused to pay him royalties. It’s likely that Kanye’s history with Nike has pushed him to compete on Phil Knight’s level.

Kanye has literally used these lines in response to someone “talking shit"—on his 2018 release, “Lift Yourself,” Ye’s sole verse contained these lines, repeated:

Poopy-di scoop
Scoop-diddy-whoop
Whoop-di-scoop-di-poop
Poop-di-scoopty
Scoopty-whoop
Whoopity-scoop, whoop-poop
Poop-diddy, whoop-scoop
Poop, poop
Scoop-diddy-whoop
Whoop-diddy-scoop
Whoop-diddy-scoop, poop

The original lines were used in response to Ebro, supposedly to “bring him closure” over the pair’s interactions regarding Kanye’s political views.

“Entertainer” is Zayn Malik’s second 2018 single following the soothy track released back in April this year, “Let Me”, whose music video currently has 122 million views as of May 28, 2019 and the Top 20 debut on UK Singles Chart.

Malik released this new single on May 23, 2018 by a worldwide premiere on Beats 1 along with a next video on his official VEVO channel with a follow-up. Some of the clips have appeared on the trailer of previous single.

The track is about ZAYN’s experiences with a lover who also happens to be an entertainer. Sofia Jamora features in both the “Entertainer” and “Let Me” music videos, acting as the girl that ZAYN refers to in the songs. However, Jamora and Malik don’t have any history. Some speculate that Jamora was casted for the videos due to her strong resemblance to Gigi Hadid, who at the time was Malik’s ex-girlfriend. As of February 2020, Hadid and Malik are back together. As “Let Me” was about Gigi Hadid, it is a safe assumption that this is the same case with “Entertainer,” as the track is the sequel to “Let Me”.

Opening with church-like organ music, “All Mine” ironically deals with infidelity.

To “let the genie out of the bottle” means to allow something to happen that cannot then be stopped – like controlling one’s desires while in a committed relationship. Ye goes on to list several high profile celebrities who have been caught out cheating and speculates about their motives.

While this track was ultimately called “All Mine,” Ye Tweeted after the release of the song that it was initially going to be called “Medulla Oblongata” – the component of the brain partially responsible for regulating respiration and circulation. Reference to this can still be found in the lyrics.

Mitski’s fifth studio album gets its name from a peer of hers from college who would perform with what she calls “cowboy swagger”. Once she left college, she realized that she missed seeing him perform and so decided that she would “be the cowboy” herself, as it were. Although this is quite a funny story for an album name, themes of changing identity run throughout the album, whether that takes the form of accommodation, self-advancement or self-actualization.

Be the Cowboy was initially announced on May 14, 2018, alongside the lead single, “Geyser”.

The single’s press release also included the album’s official artwork and cover, along with a pre-order for the album.

The album was released on August 17 via Dead Oceans.
