Paul “Paulie” Cicero is a non-fictional character from the 1990 crime movie Goodfellas. He was one of the highest ranking mafia members to be seen in the movie, as a Caporegime who had control of an entire neighbourhood.

50 Cent claims he controlled a neighborhood of his own, a statement proven largely true by numerous sources, including people he has had beef with or currently is beefing with. It is said that he had control over several corners in Southside Jamaica, Queens from approximately 1994 until 1996 when he gave rapping a shot and passed the block on to the next in line.

DJ Pooh plays the character Red in the movie Friday; Red tucks in his chain to avoid getting robbed by neighborhood menace Deebo, but his plan doesn’t work

In “500 Bars (Otis Freestyle)”, Game says:

Shout out to DJ Pooh
He gon' cry when he get in the car

Game doesn’t fear getting robbed in Cashville, which is notorious for having some tough neighborhoods

Doing well in school doesn’t always guarantee you a good job, as this class valedictorian now uses his baccalaureate to serve oversized entrees to uppity suburbanites (and Kanye)

The theme that higher education is a wasteful, unnecessary enterprise is echoed in the three skits bookending this song on the album. Some, who managed not to drop 6-figs on law school during a recession, have described these sketches as damn funny

The theme of destiny emerges yet again: Kanye should never have survived his near-fatal auto wreck. But since he did, it’s because fate (or God or whatever) wanted him there to have sex with the woman he’s addressing

Also, the “bitch” he refers to is the rap game itself; the reason God allowed him to survive and thrive among black undergraduates is so he can ascend to the rap industry.

Kanye also pays homage to
50 Cent’s May 2003 track, “Many Men (Wish Death)”:

In the Bible it says what goes around comes around
“Hommo” shot me, three weeks later he got shot down
Now it’s clear that I’m here for a real reason
‘Cause he got hit like I got hit, but he ain’t fuckin' breathin'

This could be a reference to Em’s earlier song, “Kill You”, in which he notes that there was nothing he could do to change his mother’s insanity. More specifically, he said:

But then I got a little bit older
And I realized she was the crazy one
But there was nothing I could do or say to try to change it
‘Cause that’s just the way she was

It seems like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Em does an Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation; at some point in the movie Predator, Schwarzenegger’s character loudly exhorts his lady friend to flee from the main antagonist via helicopter.

“Get down!” comes from Terminator 2, in which Schwarzenegger’s character here says this to his partner so he can continue firing at an enemy.
