Are you scared of an impending nuclear attack by North Korea? or is it just a hoax and a media distraction? In the book Animal Farm the pigs keep the other animals controlled by saying the farmers are going to attack.

Lupe Fiasco first performed in (South) Korea in the summer of 2010. He may be aware that while the media in the United States was hyping the threat of a North Korean attack, South Koreans themselves were unconcerned and continued to go about their daily lives.

In 2009 50 Cent had this to say on meditation and yoga:
When I get really really rich, I’m gonna do nothing but put my leg behind my head. When you get that kind of money Russell [Simmons] got you do nothing all day but put legs behind your head with other really beautiful people. Like a room full of beautiful models, and you just sit there and you put your leg behind your head and go “look I can do it too”.

The song is a very powerful description of the process of death. An absolutely gorgeous one, too.

Normally when the spirit leaves the body this would be described as shedding your shell but here MC Ride describes the reverse the body discarding him.

As a metaphor, the line details a loss of innocence. As we get older, that sense of childlike innocence and intimacy with our own emotions becomes more strained and disconnected from ourselves. For Ride, the result is the development of a shell around himself, with his feelings and empathy underneath. The trouble is, the more that shell is around, the more what’s underneath starts to wane. It seems he’s had that shell up for so long, all of his identity is gone, and it’s just the stoic, disconnected shell that is left.

He compares his situation to an urn. An urn is an obviously symbolic of death.

Most of the lyrics on here have been linked to the song’s supposed concern with the internet. Considering that, the meaning of this line changes a bit. The urn is all of human history and culture. The urn once contained what was once great and unique about humankind, but has now been reduced to ash by the frivolous nature of the information age. Ride is forced to wade through the huge deluge of information overload which confronts us on a daily basis.
