The original cut of “POWER” became famous in part for Kanye’s stinging diss of NBC’s flagship comedy program Saturday Night Live, so when it was announced that Kanye would be performing on SNL everyone was giddy in anticipation to hear the rhymes on the show. Instead, he replaced this verse with an alternate version. Said bars are probably no longer relevant to Ye, though, for he’s performed on SNL on more than one occasion.

Damian is asking whether people can do the basic things everyone used to be able to do. Most of us depend on technologies like the automobile without having any understanding of how the resources to run them are obtained or how they actually work. More than that we are dependent on a supply chain for the food we eat and most of us wouldn’t have a clue how to obtain the food necessary to survive without it. c.f. I think marley here is referring to people’s greed/laziness which led them to hurting others in order to satisfy themselves. The rich folks can’t survive in all odds

This is a comment about the Africans arriving in the Western hemisphere as a result of the slave trade (and perhaps more broadly all immigrants from the East), who, through the lens of what is presented in the media, believe the West is ‘developed’ and ‘civilized’ and would never consider, for example, moving back to war torn and ravished Africa even though it is their ancestral homeland.

you could also guess that he means the left hemisphere (west) and the right hemisphere (east) in an esoteric/spiritual meaning and he is talking about whole mankind, because we are a very left-hemisphere centered race (masculine side)

This quote is from the movie New Jack City. He’s talking about G who was Neno Brown’s (Westley Snipes) partner in his gang CMB (Cash Money Brothers) Also Ice T was an undercover cop who wanted to join CMB but Neno Brown said no

C.M.B. also stands for call me back, which implies Lupe trying to avoid someone who can’t be down by telling him (insincerely) to call him up later.

The hook is the part of this track where the sampled song “Float On” by Modest Mouse is most apparent. The first line is a slight variation of the hook in the original track:

Alright already we’ll all float on …

The hook also works as a reference to how Lupe continued touring during the dispute with Atlantic Records —and the fact that both he and the fans had to wait and dream about the album’s release.

Needs more about what the lines themselves are actually about. This is a good thing to put in the “about” section, but doesn’t work very well as an actual annotation of the lines themselves. As it is, however, this is a pretty poor annotation about what the lines actually mean!

The Show Goes On is a pretty literal name for the song. Atlantic said to Lupe that they wouldn’t release the LASERS album if he didn’t put this song on it. Consequently, the song was put on, and literally, ‘The Show Went On’.

The paparazzi have no mind of their own. Even though they take many pictures, they just make and increase the celebrity status of the worst human beings.

Another reading of these lines could be that the media (the paparazzi) only show the worst and most negative aspects of life in the third world.

This is a metaphor and doesn’t just apply to photographers but rather anyone who promotes and increases the power of bad things in the world.

I honestly believe thst he’s saying that the archaeologists and grave robbers ARE THE ‘WORST PAPPARAZZI’, as they don’t only take pictures, but also remains and treasures left for the dead.

Paparazzi doesn’t think for they self they just do and say what they think the media would like (ex, shooting, love, lust and money) are the main topics. but those are the usually famous ones that everybody wanna see, but the people who saying whats real and that really going on people pay no attention to.

These types of Paparazzi; referring to the Evangelists, and the “Indiana Jones'”. are the worse he has seen/known.
Because just like how average paparazzi put the worst on display, these Evangelists, and the “Indiana Jones' are putting the worst about Africa on display. And that is why the ones in the West will never move East.
Which could also be in reference to African repatriation, something preached by Rastifari movement and Marcus Garvey.

This is a metaphor, the paparazzi represent the same kind of selfish, uncaring deeds of the “Evangelists”. They force other people to suffer for their own success.

He specifies paparazzis – people involved directly with taking photos of celebrities, which is a very tiny part of photography. So to use photographers in the explanation i think is misleading.

From CB4 – a 1993 comedy starring Chris Rock. The film is about a fictional group of rappers called ‘CB4’, named after the prison block in which they allegedly met (Cell Block 4). The movie primarily parodies the rap group N.W.A as well as other gangsta rappers.
