I personally feel like the line illustrates the amount of apathy that is now classified as the norm in modern day human societies. It does this by juxtaposing the two different scenarios in which healing of the human beings is taking place. However, in one, the healing seems to favor those who are only financially capable despite the advancement of society as a whole. Only the rich seem to benefit when we are truly healed of ailments. People considered the Earth flat for centuries, hence “the earth was flat” because our perception of reality is the only reality we’re aware of. When somebody proves a different shape, the idea in people’s minds changes, hence the shape changes. But some people will always stick to the past because it made them feel more secure.

Ancient Greeks didn’t proved that earth is round. This statement was famous among philosophers and only among them and their scholars. Earth in fact, still remain flat in millions of minds and even nowadays in web we can see debate on this matter. It is not brought to the public because mainstream media doesn’t want free thinkers among population, it could stop their agenda and plans so they keep this topic under carpet and they brought it up only to mock. In my opinion this only shows that today status quo is weak because if this wouldn’t be true, than debate “round earth vs flat” would be main topic because in fact, this is interesting thing that is able to show weak spots in statements of both theories. Science should be free space of thoughts, and even the most stupid statements should be debated, just as it was in ancient greek, where lectures were free of government lobby and where you could show your point of view without fear of being mocked and ridiculed. And yes, stop repeating that round earth was stated as fact in ancient greek, because it wasn’t. It was in fact considered as possibility, but due to impossibility to prove it without a doubt, it was just a fancy theory. Check your facts before showing them to public, because you may step upon someone with wider knowledge on subject.

This line can also mean that many people tend to believe one thing and when one person deviates from what everyone else believes then they are said to be mad or crazy and they laugh and ridicule the person. Long before Galileo came around a spherical earth was accepted as fact in the western world.
