The World Wide Fund for Nature uses the panda as its logo and in its fundraising efforts. The WWF has been criticised for its links to big business.

The reference to the first panda is to a giant panda named Chi-Chi who was transferred from Beijing Zoo to London Zoo in 1958, three years before WWF became established. Being famous as the only panda residing in the Western world at that time, the WWF adopted the giant panda as its logo. The organisation now has annual revenues in excess of half a billion dollars.

Wind turbines and saving pandas are symbols of the environmental movement.

A 250 acre solar farm was built in China in the shape of giant pandas.

Lupe is pointing out that both China and the world’s environmental problems won’t be solved by just cool photo-ops but by real immediate action.

He also takes aim at the promise of nuclear cold fusion (cool fuser) which has been described sarcastically as the fuel of the future as it is always decades away from being used at scale.

Continuing the Bloods and Crips theme, “bull” is pronounced like “bool” which some bloods say instead of cool because they like to exchange b’s for c’s.

Lupe compares the small profit made by street drug dealers to the 10% or more non-refundable commission U.S. bail bondsmen make on each bond.

For example California based AIA Bail Bond Surety, underwrites nearly $700 million worth of bail a year, that’s at least $70 million in revenue.

The National District Attorneys Association have condemned commercial bail as a system that discriminates against the poor and places Americans’ liberty at the mercy of private businesses.

Google has written that studies show that for-profit bail bond providers make most of their revenue from communities of color and low income neighborhoods when they are at their most vulnerable, including through opaque financing offers that can keep people in debt for months or years.
