This is just a play on words I used as a metaphor to recognize how good aka “cold” I am at rapping. Gary Coleman was a midget.

This stanza is one of my favorite pieces of poetry. On the surface people will take it as me giving advice and they should because I am. But, in actuality this is nothing more than me looking myself in the mirror and challenging myself to make a decision about my future, my last name, my legacy.

I was foreshadowing about the future that awaits me if I get sidetracked with women and not focus 100% on turning my dreams into reality. It’s easy to get caught up in the lifestyle and in the heat of the moment make a decision that could potentially decide your fate.

This particular analogy has a lot less to do with the city of Chicago fixing the potholes in the street but much more to do with the fact that a lot of young black men don’t realize they are slaves and are being brainwashed by a system that encourages gang activity and drug trafficking due to the lack of opportunities and resources available to people of color in urban communities.

We have to fix that problem in street first before we can fix the potholes that I’ve been dodging for years that obviously aren’t a priority either.

Chicago has a bad reputation for crime and violence in impoverished neighborhoods throughout the city and as bad as it is statistically I still have hope.

I believe that I can help change the behavior in our communities through the messages in my music and I think it will resonate with a lot of people because I was born and raised in Chicago.

And I used an EBT metaphor to express that.

The music business is a competitive sport, no different than basketball. You have to execute, and compete at a high level if you want to win.

This bar stems from a previous line that I used on “Underground Railroad” where I said “currently coach Kerr tell squad huddle up cuz I’m bout to call a play”.

Its very important to stay away from negative energy and bad vibes because people will go out of there way to tell you what you can’t do or how hard something is to achieve but you control your own destiny.

And the Eddie Murphy, Lil Duval line is an analogy I used to express how I feel about the goals I plan to achieve in my career based on some of the feedback that I’ve gotten for my decision to pursue music.

As an artist sometimes it feels like I’m trapped in a ‘MAZE’ so I use this Frankie Beverly metaphor to express the “joy” of knowing that I have the potential to have a huge impact on the culture with my music, but simultaneously express the “pain” I feel because like the Alicia Keys record “You Don’t Know My Name”, yet.

It’s been over a year and a half since I released my first project and since then I feel as though I’ve grown a lot as an artist.

And as a kid I grew up listening to ‘Bone Thugz N Harmony’ so I use this ‘Krayzie Bone’ metaphor to explain my recent absence from music.

I pride myself on being a leader and the first 4 bars of ‘Underground Railroad’ is a metaphor about modern day slavery, and my journey as an underground artist to financial freedom.

It’s hard to make it from Chicago, almost as hard as it was for Harriet Tubman as an abolitionist leading the slaves to freedom.

But, they believed in her and my niggas believe in me so its my job to make history and lead them to freedom too.
