Capital Steez aka Steelo was a prominent of the New York hip-hop collective Pro-Era, which is involved in the broader Beast Coast movement. He committed suicide on the 23rd of December for reasons which are still unknown but could have stemmed from undiagnosed mental health issues; his loss was hard-hitting for hip-hop given his incredible talent and young age. He tweeted the following before he died:

The Underachievers were very close with Steelo hence why the commemorate his legacy in these lines by lighting one up in memory of his name. R.I.P

Samson is a well-known Biblical character who had great supernatural strength (he killed a lion and destroyed a whole army using just the jawbone of an ass) particularly known for destroying two pillars with his bare hands and in the process killing hundreds of Philistines in the final act of strength that Yahweh endowed him with.

In the original version of this song, Suffa twice references Obese Records, which the Hoods were signed to from 2003–2007 (this is approximate, as these details haven’t been shared publicly).

However, when the Hoods rereleased their back-catalogue, these references were dubbed with references to their own label, Golden Era Records—or G.E.—which they founded in 2009.

Lecrae is a changed man thanks to God. He has come from the darkness into the light through faith. Lecrae went from heavy darkness full of sin to being cleaned by the power of Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross.

Christians are often called “the adopted children of God – although born with sin and separated by God, Jesus' sacrifice on the cross is the bridge which allows the man to reunite with God and therefore become a member of his divine family.

Because of what the grace of God has done for Lecrae, he feels obliged to share the truth of Jesus to the whole world, by doing so he can help others to be transformed as well.

Despite verse one being a sad description of Day’s early years as a teenager struggling with A.D.D, the hook is very optimistic. In it he joyfully proclaims his current well-being and state of happiness and wishes that he continues to feel this good everyday.

Knock on wood” is a common expression that serves as superstition. It’s used in the hope that a good thing will continue to occur even after its mentioned.

Lowkey is well-known for his critical views of Barrack Obama’s policies particularly his foreign policies involving Iraq and Afghanistan. “Obama Nation” has become a very highly viewed political song worldwide. It was even played and criticized by Glenn Beck on his radio show, although the criticism of the song was of no substance which prompted Lowkey to come up with a “Obama Nation Part 2” featuring verses from M1 from Dead Prez and Black The Ripper.

Here are two examples from the two songs:

“Obama Nation”

I call Obama a bomber ‘cause those are your bombs

“Obama Nation Part 2”

Drones over Pakistan, Yemen and Libya
Is Obama the bomber getting ready for Syria?

First black president, the masses were hungry
But the same president just bombed an African country

Lowkey is saying in this line that he drops lyrical bombs. Not to be confused with Obama’s literal bombs dropped on innocent civilians abroad:
