Lauryn is contemplating the repercussions that may result from her decision to have a child. She is considering the effects that continuing on with her pregnancy will have, hence the ‘balance’
Balance may also be a literal reference to the added weight to her body from pregnancy, and her physical stability.
Lauryn always knew that it was her destiny to become a singer, a performer. But this new role that she has been “chosen”, that of mother, is something she is utterly unprepared for and what the future holds balancing work while rearing a child especially when her career is just gaining momentum…
The balance meaning the symbol on the pregnancy test in progress right before a positive or negative result. Finally a positive test meant a new destiny for her.
