This took place at Old Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin, Ireland following the Easter Rising on May 12, 1916. James Connolly and other Irish rebels were executed by the British for their role in the rebellion. The rebellion took place in an attempt to gain Irish independence from Britain.
Due to his injuries James Connolly was unable to stand up during the execution and was executed tied to a chair.
