This is the first time ever in the show that we see The Children, or Children of the Forest, as they are also called. However, they have been mentioned earlier, such as in tales Old Nan and Master Luwin told to Bran.

The Children of the Forest are a non-human race, and are believed to be the first inhabitants of Westeros. They lived there already when the First Men immigrated, 12,500 years before Robert’s rebellion.

The immigration of the First Men pushed the Children further and further into Westeros, and many wars were fought between the Men and the Children. The Children were small in numbers, but skilled warriors and some of them wielded powerful magic. After two thousand years of war, The First Men and The Children signed a pact of peace. They lived in peace in 2,000 years, until the White Walkers attacked.

The Children and The Men fought together, and drove the Walkers back, but the Children took heavy losses fighting them. They never truly recovered from this, and gradually declined. By the time the first Andals invaded Westeros, they had disappeared. Only a small number were left, and these were either hunted down and killed by the Andals, or fled beyond the wall. They are now considered only a myth by most maesters in the Seven Kingdoms.

When Jon Snow betrayed Ygritte and the Free Folk to go back to the Night Watch, Ygritte shot him with three arrows, one in the arm, and two in his legs as he rode away.

Ygritte was a very good archer, and almost always hit where she aimed. Perhaps she could have hit him more fatally if she really wanted…

This happened in Season 3, Episode 10 (Mhysa)

Dr. Dre’s Detox is one of the most anticipated hip hop albums of all time. It has been talked about since 2001, and its release has been announced several times. By this point many have given up the hope, but a lot of people still wait for the legendary album.
