Having been through this all already, Tone is saying that popularity isn’t everything, even the most popular guy from school will end up with a bad life if he doesn’t apply himself or learn any skills.

Many guys are only interested in one thing from girls; sex. After they’ve had their way with them, they’ll just leave them and move on to the next one.

The popular girl at school that every guy wanted to have sex with will grow up to realize that popularity isn’t everything. She’ll look back at her school days as the highlight of her life since everything went downhill from there.

Tone also acknowledges that many girls think that love is forever, and the guy they think they’re in love with turns out to be like every other guy that just wants sex.

The people you hang out with (Your friends) are a reflection of who you are. As you grow up you become more like your parents. Tone is asking us (The listeners) to take a look at your friends and ask yourself if that’s who you want to be when you’re older. As you spend more time with your friends, you subconsciously begin to act or talk the way they do, without even noticing it.

Tone grew up learning without any moral principles in his life and as he got older, he began to understand how the world works through his experiences. Now as an adult Tone understands that there are many people who listen to his music and uses this opportunity to help others learn from his mistakes.

Tone realizes that as a musician he has the power to influence people and chooses to utilize his abilities (Rapping) to help those who listen to his music by telling us (The listeners) what he knows by granting us some wisdom about life, something he wishes he had, but never did.

Continuing with Tone’s previous line, he’s describing the kids who are susceptible to selling drugs/joining gangs, kids with disadvantages. They have little to no love in their lives from growing up in broken homes and see gangs as a way to be a part of something, somewhere they can feel a sense of belonging. As teachers try to work with the same type of kids, some of them will give up on their students and vice-versa.

Drugs, greed and violence describes street life. People who sell drugs for a living tend to stay strapped and only care about one thing; the almighty dollar. Tone is saying as people become more accustomed to these things, they become jaded from being around negative influences.

Kids who grow up around these negative influences see people making a lot of money from selling drugs and decide that’s what they want to do since they don’t know any better. Drug dealers and street gangs represent the evil that Tone is describing that become influential to the young.

Reverse of the famous idiom ‘The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing’

Instead Tone is saying if you were once a sheep, you’ll always be one. A sheep represents a coward, someone weak, who follows others while a wolf represents someone strong and fearless. People tend to try to fit in with others by dressing like them but if you take away the clothes, you’ll still be a sheep.
