I think it is common to admire the peacefulness of your significant other. We never get to watch ourselves dream, so it is natural to be curious to watch others have this profound chemical explosion in there heads while completely unaware of the observer. Of course, in the most narcissistic manner, I hoped she was having love sick dreams about me.

“Qeres” is the second track off of Holy Vacants. Holy Vacants is a concept record revolving around a young renegade couple who have been stalking and cannibalizing angels after Hitler’s demise in World War II. The couple desire the blood of angels to keep them young and in love forever. They justify there actions by admitting their love is pure and a testament to God.

The story picks up in present day. The man has grown weary of his bride’s intentions. “Qeres” continues moving the plot forward while containing some seriously personal metaphors. While the concept is fictional – the story behind the symbolism reflects my very true and turbulent relationship with the muse that inspired Darkness, Oh Hell and Never Born, Never Dead. Feel free to annotate – there are plenty of references to other works of art and even previous Trophy Scars albums.

“Bad Dreams” is the first song off the 2009 LP, Bad Luck.

It sets the stage for a concept record that is not always what it seems. There are multiple storylines at play; some fictional, some autobiographical. This happens to be an autobiographical song about the lead singer, Jerry Jones, having a dream within a dream, although the listener is not aware of that until the final lyrics are revealed. “Bad Dreams” transitions into the next song “Botanicas” in a mystifying context, leading the listener into what may possibly be another dream sequence.
