Waiting for a generation's bonfire to begin Adrenaline Nightshift by Japandroids

Bonfires are often associated with great friends, cold drinks, laughs, crisp nights, and just overall good times. But this line takes a larger role, the singer is waiting on an uprising of a generation to start living instead of worrying about everything in front of them or else life will pass them by.

Gimme that you and me in a grave trust
Give me younger us
Younger Us by Japandroids

The two friends are down to ride-or-die on something very reminiscent of 90’s Snoop Dogg. Trust that is so strong that’d they would take it to the grave with them before giving it up… when they were young.

Remember that night you were already in bed,
Said "fuck it" got up to drink with me instead!

Remember saying things like "we'll sleep when we're dead"
And thinking this feeling was never gonna end
Younger Us by Japandroids

Youth gives a feeling of invincibility and euphoria. Going out with friends, raising hell. Seizing the night and having a blast doing it.

Continuous Thunder by Japandroids

Repetition of the line plays to continuity of thunder. Thunder doesn’t rumble and then just go away, it continually makes it’s presence known either quietly or loudly. This couple is the same way, they will be trying to feel alive and live for the moment in whatever way they can, whether it be singing out in the streets or one night stands or indulgence in lust or getting completely twisted.

And if the cold, pissing rain flooded that fire
Would you still take my hand tonight?
Singing out loud
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Continuous Thunder by Japandroids

The rain takes the form of catastrophic events for their relationship, if it flooded the intensely burning fire of their love and left her questioning, would she take his hand, dressed to the nines and go out to live in the moment still?

Oh, and if I had all of the answers
And you had the body you wanted
Would we love with a legendary fire?
Continuous Thunder by Japandroids

The singer poses a serious question here. If he had all the answers to their questions and she had the body she dreamed of would they love any more than they already do? Love is often compared to fire because it intensely burns for someone and becomes a consuming force. But the singer’s question is more or less rhetorical because he already loves her with that same legendary fire.

Many man and women consistently worry about their weight and are insecure about their bodies, wishing to have the perfect body and can even end up with mental disorders. But the singer asks would they love any more if she had the perfect body?

I think this gets at a lot of the meaning, but there’s also the notion that love isn’t perfect, that when in love and loving someone, we love them not just in spite of their flaws but because of them. Definitely agree with it being rhetorical, but the heart of this line seems to be at embracing the beauty of imperfection, perfection and knowing all the answers would be boring.
