“Hold up wait, wait up a minute” is extremely similar to his line off “3005”.

A couple of lines by Gambino, that when put together make for a great punchline… except he gets the line wrong!

The girl he’s speaking to through text messages said she is “wet,” which means she is horny and her vagina is literally wet. The “H2O” reference also serves to say that the girl is thirsty, and his D can solve that.

Gambino says H2O, as in H and two O’s, which together with his D spells the word HOOD.

Of course, H2O doesn’t mean HOO, it means HHO. Gambino has described his

HHOD

…not his hood. Oh well.

This isn’t the first semantically questionable lyric on the album.

Big Sean grew up listening to such hip-hop legends as Eminem, The Notorious B.I.G., and 2Pac. “Got ruined” likely refers to Sean’s inability to listen to lesser forms of hip-hop.

Biggie shot the music video for his 1994 hit song “Juicy” at a mansion located in Water Mill, New York, out in the Hamptons. It has seven bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, and a pool on the roof. In 2012, it went up on the market for $10.9 million.

Odd Future is known for wearing a lot of apparel made by the clothing brand Supreme. When Tyler, the Creator was becoming a popular artist, Supreme started to sponsor Odd Future, which is probably the main reason why majority of his crew wears the clothing brand often, among others (like Diamond Supply, and their own Golf Wang imprint.) Knowing this, Odd Future “loitering” in front of a Supreme clothing store isn’t so awkward.

There are a plethora of photos displaying Tyler, the Creator and other members of Odd Future wearing Supreme clothing, including:

Lupe Fiasco is not actually dissing Earl Sweatshirt, even though he may take it as such.

For those who don’t know, Earl is a member of Odd Future who’s “official” debut album “DORIS” drops on August 20th.

Following the mention of “ether” in the previous line, Lupe is also referencing Nas' infamous Jay Z diss track “Ether” from his 2001 album Stillmatic.

Ab-Soul doesn’t have a watch on his wrist, so he has no way of telling the time. He could be saying that he is not a wage slave bound by time, working by the hour. Also, a watch is a chain around your wrist.

Soulo used a similar line on Talib Kweli’s song Congregation.

Ab-Soul believes, like many other “conspiracy theorists”, that the attacks upon the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001 were perpetrated by the U.S. Government, to demonize those of Arabic descent and from the Middle East in the eyes of the U.S. public, and to gain their “approval” to occupy areas within the Middle East, such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

Usually when one thinks of the word “drone”, they most likely think about the U.S. flying drones and bombing areas in the Middle East, most recently a bombing in Yemen that is suspected to have been perpetrated by drones controlled by the U.S.

Yet in this instance, Ab-Soul is referring to the U.S. public as drones. Robots who literally can’t think for themselves and are programmed what to think. The US government began using “surveillance” drones on US territory, shortly after the Dorner situation.

The site World Star Candy (another section of World Star Hip Hop) is for beautiful women posting sexual videos of themselves for guys.

While all this stuff is happening to the victim of the robbery, Crooked is in a dark corner of the club, having sex with a woman who has been featured on World Star Candy.

  • A facade is a superficial appearance or illusion of something, and as most of us know, rappers are very superficial.

  • Mirages are a naturally occurring optical phenomenon in which light rays are bent to produce a displaced image of distant objects or the sky.
