Natalie Portman sheds her “good girl” image as she raps about doing drugs, cheating on tests at Harvard, and other scandalous activities in her life on this SNL Digital Short turned Incredibad album track.

Lyrically and stylistically, “Natalie’s Rap” is a pastiche of several hip-hop songs of the 1980s including Eazy-E’s “No More ?’s,” NWA’s “Gangsta Gangsta,” Sir-Mix-a-Lot’s “Posse on Broadway,” and others.

He wants to know if the infidelity has made the 6:00 gossip run.

Kanye is asking if there is more “secrets” he doesn’t know about but everyone around him seems to know, which links back to earlier in the song when everybody he knows already knew before he did, so he had to act like he knew. Only this time, he goes directly to the source to get the information out of her rather than hear the word on the street.

“Dick In a Box” was the song that propelled The Lonely Island into comedy superstardom. It was originally aired as an uncensored Digital Short on the December 16, 2006 episode of Saturday Night Live. The video quickly went viral on Hulu, YouTube and other media sharing sites.

The sketch earned its writers (including Timberlake) an Emmy for “Best Original Music and Lyrics” and the song was later included on The Lonely Island’s debut album Incredibad.

Two sequel songs were made later on: “Motherlover” in 2009 and “3 Way (The Golden Rule)” with Lady Gaga in 2011.

“I’m On a Boat” first premiered as an SNL Digital Short and was later included on The Lonely Island’s debut album Incredibad.

The song parodies many of the clichés found in rap songs and videos such as excessive wealth, drinking and swearing, complete with Auto-Tune vocals courtesy of T-Pain. The song specifically highlights a common rap video trope of sailing on a yacht.

“I’m On a Boat” was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 52nd Grammy Awards.

Kanye kept a poker face, showing no emotions: fear, anger, sadness – nothing. He was so devastated by the news that he couldn’t bring out a single word, because he was not expecting it at all. The “bad news” is the fact that Kanye found out that his ex-fiancée Alexis Phifer was cheating on him.

Along with “Say You Will”, “Bad News” is one of the more instrumental tracks on 808s & Heartbreak.

The first two minutes features Kanye’s vocals. The song then shifts into instrumental territory with an orchestrated version of the main melody, followed by a refrain of bare drumming and low octave harmonics.

A clever double entendre, it can be interpreted in two ways:

“Channel crews” as in News Channel Crew, most likely in reference to reported news stories as the Bad News, this juxtaposes ‘Ye’s personal troubles with other more troubling public issues.

“Channel cruise” as in Kanye doesn’t really care what’s on the news and when asked about it he just “cruises” the channels to see if there is anything of interest on the idiot box.

This line itself conveys the situation in which Kanye is not able to escape the “bad news” surrounding his life.
