40 is Drake’s producer and Omen works with him a lot. Omen is a producer in his own right. Most of the song is first generation sounds. I got the beat when it was 80% finished and then I gave Noah the sample. He put it in and made it sound bigger. It’s just some Turkish record I dug up. I did the hook and half the verse in Toronto, and then brought it to Alchemist’s house in LA. I finished it up there, so there is a mixture of these different types of feelings: cold weather, warm weather, traveling, you know?

This is my favorite song I’ve done in a very long time. I’m so happy that it’s my beat, because if I had heard that on someone else’s album, I would have been pissed. I needed something like that, because that shit is just perfect music to me. The ending, with the psychedelic transition, my boy Chauncey on the hook? It’s a fucking feeling, a vibe. It makes you feel great, and it transitions into “Actin’ Crazy” exquisitely.

You can obviously hear the influence from foreign places, and a lot of psychedelic music. It’s a dreamy record, you know what I mean? There’s boom in all of the records, but there’s boom in different ways. It’s not just boom boom boom, every two seconds. It’s tasteful boom.
