A sample from American actor & comedian, Mantan Moreland (9.3.1902 — 9.28.1973) whose commercial appeal peaked in the 1930s and 1940s. In his prime, he won roles from both major film studios, as well as independent producers who cast Moreland in low-budget, all-black-cast comedies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smrJ7459pj0
Perhaps his best known character was that of chauffeur, Birmingham Brown, in Monogram’s Charlie Chan series. In vaudeville, Moreland toured the nation, making personal appearances in movie theaters, with his straight man, Ben Carter. Their synergy and impeccable timing is captured in the “incomplete sentence” routine in two Charlie Chan pictures, The Scarlet Clue and Dark Alibi. During the 1950s, he appeared in two all-black variety films — with Nipsey Russell standing in for Ben Carter as Moreland’s straight man. By then, filmmakers were "reassessing roles for black actors,” and Moreland’s options waned. After a stroke in the early 1960s, Moreland was cast in a few small comedic parts with Bill Cosby, Moms Mabley and Carl Reiner. His last featured performance was in the darkly humorous horror film, Spider Baby (1968), recalling of Universal’s thrillers of the 1940s. in 1973, Moreland died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Hollywood.

He hears new music coming out, and to him it sounds like caca. He’s mystified that people think its cool. However, notice that Yauch doesn’t call out any specific artists — because he he’s a mensch.

As life is lived, your perspective changes and you see the world differently.

You could not step twice into the same river; for other waters are ever flowing on to you. —Heraclitus

You begin to realize the person to whom you are most accountable is yourself. Adam is living his life for himself, nobody else. When times get hard, or he loses track of where he’s going, he doesn’t rely on fads to give him the answers. He looks within himself to find the correct path.

Society has conditioned us to want more, to make ourselves superficially attractive because then we will feel successful, comfortable, and in control. But it’s all a delusion. Project Happiness explored this topic with MCA:

PH: I’ve heard you say it before in past interviews, and I definitely agree myself that greed is a big problem today in America. It seems that people view wealth as a measurement of their success in life, or even a measurement of their own happiness. How can we change this mind thought, which most of us have been brought up believing?

MCA: It’s pretty easy to see that wealth doesn’t really equal happiness. We can, just by looking at the news you can see that a lot of people in the world who have ridiculous amounts of money are not too pleased with their lives, and spend a lot of time being unhappy.
