This borrows from Notorious B.I.G.’s song “Juicy”.

It was all a dream
I used to read Word Up! magazine

Complex magazine also released an article about how they “Found Earl,” much to the disapproval/anger of Tyler who thought that Earl’s privacy was disrespected. However, this is probably unrelated since the article was released in April, 2011 and the album was most likely basically finished at that point.

Tyler’s hero is Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D., so that’s probably who this refers to. After Tyler tells the world that he hates himself, his hero phones him up, which makes him hate his life a whole lot less

Another take: Pharrell calling makes him doubt the legitimacy of his suicidal thoughts and hatred of his own life. He doesn’t feel better, he just wonders if he’s allowed to feel bad.

He has always either played basketball or smoked marijuana.

Ball hard could also refer to ‘the game’. He’s not actually playing basketball, he’s ballin hard, he’s working his game, improving his rapping skills.

Tyler references the nursery rhyme Jack and Jill with clever wordplay. In the nursery rhyme, a boy named Jack and a girl named Jill go up a hill to fetch a pail of water.

Tyler plays on this by saying he stumbled down that hill and had Jill “jack him off”, a slang for oral sex.

This line might also be a shout out to 90’s American rock band Jack Off Jill. The band was an all girl goth rock collective known for their aggressive music.
