This is a classic free-association DOOM song, though its overarching idea is that he sells his rhymes, or music, like drug dealers sell Dimebags of weed (which cost $10, roughly the same price as an album).

Or, on another angle he could be saying that his rhymes are fine like ‘dimes’ (beautiful women, Word up to L).

Finally, he might just be saying he’s not only a rapper, but also a pimp. He sells rhymes and he sells women (dimes). It’s DOOM, you know.

Samples the Quincy Jones cheese-fest “One Hundred Ways”.

The instrumental version of this song was later released on DOOM’s collection of beats, Special Herbs, under the name “Monosodium Glutamate.”

Meth and Blige won Best Rap Performance by Duo or Group at the 1996 Grammys with this track.

Still talking about the woman from the previous line, “Power You” is a Supreme Alphabet of the 5% Nation of the Gods and Earths abbreviation of the word pussy (see Method Man’s “All I Need” for another example).

While “Power You” is mere slang in Hip Hop, the meaning behind the Supreme Alphabet version is that if you don’t master yourself her physical beauty will (over)power you.

Foofur was a Hanna-Barbera cartoon about a big blue dog and his friends, all living in a mansion inherited from his late owner. The word cats ties in with the household pets theme.

You can interpret the first line in a couple of ways:

  1. Most men treat their women like bitches (female dogs).
  2. Most men pamper and spoil their women (as Foofur was actually living a life of luxury).

Doom doesn’t recommend either course of action. He’s not down with domestic violence either, kids.

Tayasal was the capital of the Itza Mayans and also the last independent Mayan state. The Itza ignored repeated campaigns by the Spaniards to convert them to Christianity until 1697, when 235 Spanish soldiers and tens of thousands of Xiu Maya conquered the island.

Now part of Guatemala, Tayasal is known by the Spanish name Flores (meaning flowers). No Mayan structures remain but some of the stones were used to build the island’s Catholic Church.
