In circuses, it’s not unheard of for there to be someone guessing weight or age or that type of thing. Acey isn’t like those type of people; he doesn’t guess meaningless things about people for kicks, but rather what pains them so that he can help them with his poetry. Hollywood is a vicious place, and many people have to sacrifice their morals to get into it. Acey is saying that you shouldn’t envy the lives of those you see on TV, because they probably sold their soul to have it. Acey has a connection with this woman, so no matter how many physical limitations prevent him from seeing her, he can still see into her soul. In a way, the eyes are the closest you can get to an outlet for your soul. This is because you can change your body language to hide your pain, but your eyes never lie about how you really feel. You can always tell how someone is truly feeling by staring into their eyes.

Throughout the history of war, war has been criticized for being decided by the old and fought by the young. This is why the majority of war-protestors are young, for they’re the ones that have to die for the war.
