Muslims typically do not eat pork. Don’t confuse the Arabic greeting as an Oscar Mayer cold cut, as “as-salamu” could possibly sound like salami to a layman. Your mother should also be aware of this, apparently.

Actually, the language is Arabic, but whatever: you get the point (though As-salamu alaykum" is a common greeting spoken between people of Muslim faith, and this does not necessarily require fluency in Arabic).

Muslims have to fast and dedicate themselves to prayer during the month of Ramadan. Kanye’s lyrics are supposed to instill similar respect for his (self-proclaimed) divinity

The song was to come out around the same time as Ramadan in 2010. Ramadan began on August 11, 2010. West tried to get this remix released on August 13 (in order to make it seem like this song caused Ramadan)

But it didn’t make it out until August 20 on Hot 97 by Funkmaster Flex.

One must wonder how awkward it must have been whenever Van Gogh would say “Excuse me, I can’t hear anything from this side. What was that again?”

Kanye doesn’t listen to the haters, as though he were missing an ear

LADIES: if you’re partying all night, it’s best to get some rest first (although, based on some of Kanye’s blog posts, it seems that maybe he just does a lot of coke)

Also, short naps are called ‘power naps’, referring back to the power theme of the song

Jay-Z defends Kanye’s much-maligned interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards

As far as Jay-Z is concerned, Kanye had to speak the truth about Beyonce getting robbed — even if he had to be rude to Taylor Swift in doing so

Then again, Taylor Swift is not Jay’s wife

Norman Mailer is a well-known American writer in the early 20th Century. In what is arguably Norman Mailer’s best novel — Harlot’s Ghost — the last line of the book is “To be continued”

To be continued hinted that the welcome to the jungle theme would be continued, which it was. One of the tracks from Watch the Throne is Welcome to the Jungle, where Jay refers to himself as the black Axel Rose
