By the banks of the Ilissus. Phaedrus (Full Text) by Plato (Ft. Benjamin Jowett)

The Ilissus is a river in Athens, Greece that ran outside the Long Walls of the Athens of antiquity (pictured above).

Today, the Ilissus is not only largely channeled underground, but its banks — the banks mentioned here, which were favored by Scorates for walking and teaching — have been replaced by a busy intersection nestled between a Hilton hotel and an art museum (designated below by the pindrop marked with the letter A).

Oliver Stone, Noam Chomsky, Tom Hayden Urge President Correa to Grant Snowden Asylum by JustForeignPolicy.org (Ft. Edward Snowden, Noam Chomsky & Oliver Stone)

According to reports, Manning was held in isolation in a windowless 6-by-8-foot cell for nine months in a Marine brig in Quantico, Virginia, where he was denied sunlight and meaningful exercise, and barred from wearing clothing for part of his detention.
