Mr. Jamerson, Pharoahe Monch’s dad always use to tell OK about their beat selection

The song starts with Prine Po, who has just woken up thinking about the hardships he has to put through for another day. He’s so fed up he can’t even think about things that are positive.

As an intro to this song, Prince Po and Monch are asking themselves “How did the real hip-hop turn to this”. This question is just the first of many other similar questions in the song (thus the title).

The answer would be Organized Konfusion! To be materialistic is to brag about cars, money and wealth. When rapping, these things have the chances of extremely slim to none of popping up in an OK song. OK would rather deal with subjects about real hip-hop.

To be imperialistic is to be part of the system, policies, or practices of such a government. Monch will never be part of the system, cause he knows the system is bullshit.

Monch is asking if you’d rather listen to…

A) The dope MC"s with extreme lyrics,
Or
B) The dumbed down ones with little intelligence, who get by only by being loud

He asks this questioning if you’re either a hip-hop head or just another person in the general public.

Clorox is a bleach product. “Bleach refers to a number of chemicals which remove color, whiten or disinfect, often via oxidation.” (Wikipedia) Pharaohe Monch gets rid of the infection of badrapittis his competitors carry.

(I think he means the disinfecting part, not the whitening part)

Neither Prince Po, Monch, O.C (the artists) or the listeners don’t really care who goes first — as long as they get to hear a dope verse spit from each of them.
